the only art of the con trick I do is the shells and pea, a beautiful classic IMHO. My shells are cheap plastic ones from a kids magic set and they work very well. the handling was much easier than I anticipated and didn't require near the practice efforts I thought it would. After about an hour of working with it, I was video taping myself doing it and happy with the recording. I'm not saying this as a boast but merely as a suggestion. It's not as difficult to manipulate the peas as many think it is. It's worth the effort required to learn it, it gets great reactions.

yea i do a version of shell and pea with 5p coins or scrunched paper and bottletops (Ive used a tightly rolled note as well.. I say 'you find the money you keep it'). it makes sense to people that im using lids that i can get easier from the bar and therefore are not out of place, and also i dont have to worry about carrying shells.

This is already a part of my working set. I finish by vanishing the lids with a topit and make the signed note/5p appear in an envelope in my wallet.

The envelope says money won from 'their name' (i listen to the table until i hear a name - empahasise we never met, or get their name from other means like table plans, asking other guests or from pickpoceting their wallet previously)

I have actually been closing with this, and i bring out a huge stack of envelopes and say 'dont worry, youre not the only one' and walk off.

Its working as an ending right now!

I got the shells and peas as a freebie from Penguin magic a few years ago, I've never actually got round to finding a routine for them so they're still in my 'box of tricks' unused!

I've seen a few different peoples routines, I like the idea of using only two shells covering the third shell with a glass after showing it empty and it appears under the shell thats covered with the glass. below is a link of a guy that's very good at working this con game.

this routine is now finished and i performed it last night.

it was mostly sh*t.

but thats ok! the set was 20 minutes worth and I think i have a solid 5 minutes in there. I just need to refine and perfect, change a few bits.

the persona was popular. i played all 'shifty like' and pickpocketed to make they guy seem real. got a hell of a lot of laughs. i did a bureau de change routine - basically bill switch a borrowed bill into whatever they ask for using Etienne Pradiers method (A TON OF THUMBTIPS!) which is an awesome trick and suited the wheeler dealer persona.

i ended the act by asking if anyone was any good with locks, and revealed that I had been handcuffed for the WHOLE routine but had hidden the chain accross my chest and up my sleeves. This worked amazingly because i was gesturing a LOT in the act waving my arms around, but walked away from the table with my hands shoulder width apart, and jammed in cuffs.

im thinking about using a thumb tie idea rather than cuffs, using a plastic cable tie. I saw Joe Monti do this in blackpool and it was epicly funny.

anyone know his method/where to find it? ive never played with cable tie magic.... lol
