One aspect of mentalism that our more magical brethren revel in is visuality, or lack of it in our case.
Mentalism is by it's nature quite cerebral. They think of something you tell them what it is.
There may be some coloured envelopes along the way or some such, but nothing to match the visual impact of a pool ball disappearing in a blast of flash paper.
The suggestion above on palm Reading for magicians is a good one, if it fits your persona.
Even from across a room people can see what it is you re doing.
Similarly spoon bending can spread your performing space across quite a wide area if done at face height.
Mixing visual stuff like these in with other more cerebral mentalism is, IMHO, the key to a happy audience.
