Brainwave deck

Postby Insight » May 9th, '05, 16:53

Has anyone got this??

"A pack of cards is placed on a table in full view of everyone. A spectator names a card at random. The magician then opens the box and looks through the deck. One card is face up - guess what - it’s the chosen card! Not only that, once the card is removed, it is turned over and it has a different colour back to the rest of the deck!"

Is it worth getting?, magictricks.co.uk are selling it for £6.99.
Thanks

It's just the same principle as the ID. There are plenty of reviews around including in TM.

Yes. It is a very good effect. Well I say effect, there are more that you can do with this. It is excellent deck to start out with. You may have seen the likes of David Blaine using this deck.

Hope it helps =)

(PS make sure you get the bicycle version, and the ID is a better option)

For the price: it is the normal average price.

You basically pay for a deck of bikes + the secret. If you don't know it, it's worth buying, but if you know the ID principle you're probably cheaper to make one yourself and to your specific preference...

I know how the ID works, wouldn't try making one myself just yet. Would people recommend it over the 'Brainwave deck' then, like can you do more with the ID?

I've also heard it is a gd back-up if a trick goes wrong, u can always say "That wasn't your card??, that's because I put it in this other deck upside down earlier..." blah blah.

End of June I'm back in Wolverhampton - can do early July?

Anyone from the Midlands want to meet up towards the end of June?

I know that you definitely can't show the backs of the invisideck...not sure about the brainwave, but I don't think so. You could try the X-Deck - it claims to do that but I don't know how good it actually is.

The X-deck is a good deck but personally I prefer the ID. However, there is a debate on this topic elsewhere on this site and I recal that many preferred the X-Deck.

It's certainly worthwhile checking this thread out

Hi Dat, yea I'm aware there are a few from Bournemouth on here. Do you buy your magic from any nearby magic shops?

...Ordered the ID yesterday

Yeah - one of the best stocked magic shops that I've seen is right on our doorstep.

The barinwave deck is (in my opinion) a 'must have' for all magicians. It's a get out of jail free card when you lose a break, it's a good standalone trick in it's own right - you can do ID and so muc more - it's only limited by your versatility and application.

Buy one for your pocket (err, let's see, £1 to a penny, rattle bars, brainwave, TT, clean underwear - O.K. ready to go anywhere :-) ),

Postscript for DAT.

Give me a call when you're back in Wolverhampton, just twenty minutes from there - always keen to meet up with other fellow sufferers :-),
