 Sorry to sound ingorant but what does springing have to do with fanning.
Unless I am mistaken springing is making the cards fly from one hand to the other.

Hmmm, I have to say that to be quite honest, I've never found a reason to have to fancy fan the cards to Joe Public. I don't want to come over as some card geek :?

Gerbil: There are two main kinds of fan (AFAIK). The 'standard' one is the thumb fan, where you just push the cards around in a circle with one hand while holding the deck in the other. The second one is a pressure fan, where you actually spring the cards into the fan by using the same movement as if you were springing the cards. It's harder but looks quite nice and has the advantage that you can fan almost any deck; you don't need a brand new USPCC deck for a nice fan.
