Vanishing bottle

Postby MrCat » Sep 4th, '14, 17:45

Hi folks, I'm looking for the most convincing vanishing bottle trick, preferably with a bottle of beer as opposed to wine...I've looked a t a few which vary widely in price and wondered what everyone thought? To be more specific I mean the type that crush down in a paper bag or some such thing.

Cheers :)

Fay Presto does a great bottle vanish in her table hopping act - It can be done with beer or wine or even champagne bottles. I doubt it's something which can be bought but there are probably vids of it online and it's not hard to figure out what to do.

How about using a Toppit?

Is that a bottle vanish, or her "signature" bottle through table? I have seen her perform that effect, which is commercially available (or something jolly similar). The description for Johnny Thompson's Bottle Thru Table reads:

Imagine being able to borrow almost any bottle, wrap it in paper leaving the top of the bottle visible, and pushing the bottle through any table top. This is now possible with our improved gimmicks. You get three gimmicks, therefore being able to present this with virtually ANY bottle you will ever come across!

You could use it as a slow motion vanish, I suppose, although you'd have to work out a way of getting rid of the bottle!

I don't have any experience of working with the bottles the original poster mentioned, but for cabaret or full stage work, I think they are quite deceptive. The best ones are supposed to be the Nielsen bottles (coincidentally, they are also responsible for the Johnny Thompson trick I mentioned above). I think that the green bottles, such as the Beck's one, look slightly better. It's not too common to see brown glass bottles now.

Ah yes, thank you PT, bottle thru table is indeed the correct description but it wouldn't take much to turn it into a vanish by not producing the bottle again.

Hey folks, I found the link to the bottle I was on about, and thought I'd lost, am I allowed to post links to props here?

I looked up Fay's bottle through table on youtube, very nice, with the neck poking out the top of some napkins. I've seen a few ways to perform it with the bottle upside down so that was very sweet to see, and gave me a few ideas. I'm still not quite sure how much we're aloowed to reveal in general posts on here so I better shup up but I'll post the link if I'm allowed, or just pm it you if you're interested.

Links to props are OK, the general rule is to avoid exposing the method especially if it's someone else's intellectual property.
