Coin Unique

Postby Johnny Wizz » Jun 21st, '05, 08:19

The Effect

A pound coin and a penny coin are put close together and the penny disappears

Cost

£27.99 from Magicbox, I trawled about a dozen websites and couldn't find the Eddie Gibson original cheaper anywhere but there are some knock offs around

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

1, self working but deserves good presentation

Review

I know this effect has been reviewed before but for other beginners like me I just wanted to say that this is truly a superb easilly worked piece of magic. As I say above, it really deserves good presentation and the temptation will be to take it straight out and show it off. I was able to perform one of the routines supplies with it for my wife within 5 minutes and she was well baffled. She actually thought the glass I used must be gimicked!

It is a beautifully engineered piece, the workmanship accounts for the price.

Overall

I think this one will be part of my regular tricks for ever. It is a brilliant vanish and I feel the gimmick is fully examinable it is so good

It cetainly is a nice little object to carry around with you wherever you go. Just make sure you don't spend it!

Funny you should say that as a friend of mine used to have the 10p/2p version, but spent it in a shop. Needless to say, he got some weird looks when he asked them if he could go through their change to see if he could find his "special" 2p! He never did get it back, so let that be a lesson to everyone who carries this trick around with them - be careful because it is very realistic!

I keep mine in a small (easy to open) pouch with another penny and pond.

You never know when:

a. You will want to use it, and

b. when you want to pass the pair around for examination.

This is a great trick and lends itself to so many routines. Needs to be with you at all times along with brainwave, rattle bars and a picture this. Better than 30p for the phone home - always makes friends,

Vic

Just got mine today and I think it's great!! But I am having troubles with the locking, not sure if I would be comfortable with the spectator doing it because of this.

Doesn't that leave you with a wet penny and a soggy pouch?

The guy in my local magic store gave one out in his change to a customer and couldn't remember which one. He was more annoyed that the lucky punter didn't know that he had it and would then unknowingly pass it on.

iv'e used a scotch and soda for so long thease new fangled regular coin thingies seem a waste and are a lot more expensive, there also no chance of spending an old english penny, then again some of our loos are that old

I know it's expensive, but with this coin you can do visual vanish of the smaller coin right in front of the spectator with your palm open. Very cool.
