Hello again

Postby SharkTrager » Dec 16th, '19, 14:01

Hi all,

I was fairly active on here in 2003-4 and then fell into a black hole of nothingness and now I'm back on the other side.

How are you all?

I've never lost the magic love but just had to concentrate on a lot of other things for a few years.

But now, I'm back to magic with a vengeance. I'm more focused on mentalism (how do i get in the restricted area Mandrake?) but through my wilderness years there have been so many incredible new developments that I'm exploring a lot of effects as if I were a newborn. I've been on MagicCafe for a few months but am keen to get back to the warm embrace of the TalkMagic throng. Will be reading through lots of old posts to keep up to speed.

Things I'm interested in are:

Book tests - I'm trying to devise my own right now and have some ideas that are not complete rip offs of the mainstay but would be keen to collaborate with someone on this if such a person is open to it.

Magic club for kids - I'm (brainwashing) encouraging my kids to learn magic and had a lot of abuse from the Cafe for suggesting my 8 year old son learn and perform mental magic. He's really into performing but I can't find a casual club for kids in North London / Herts, other than the big ones where you can just hang out and share ideas. I think I should start one. I used to run magic workshops for kids.

Good apps - like Inject / DFB - love them when they're good. I'm Android enabled so have to roll with the punches.

Everyday object / propless stuff - I love effects that are as close to using nothing tricksy.

Still love card magic though.

Good to reacquaint. Hope to (re) make some new friends.

Best

Shark

Hi Mandrake,
Yes I noticed it was a bit quiet. How to change that?

Thanks for that, I'm not really sure what can be done. Certainly posting topics of interest are the key but even then we'll need a more active membership to keep up the momentum. To some extent bulletin boards like this are a bit old hat and things like FB have taken over. Several other boards I visit report the same sort of situation so it's not just magic being affected like this.

On that basis if you have any suggestions we'll see if they can be incorporated!

Ah yes, I've heard of this Facebook.

Trouble with it, is that you can't sort and search topics etc. And it's Facebook.

Allegedly there are also some serious security issues with FB and the way personal data is used. Nothing like that here, we're not clever enough to do that!! :D
