Sam the bellhop

I am looking for a more up to date and Anglicised version of Sam the bellhop. I'm not looking for any instructions or hints, I know how it works, I would just appreciate any pointers towards a modern presentation.

Wayne Dobson did a version and it's in one of his books, can't remember which one but DTrix would be able to advise.

Thanks Mandrake, I'll have a look there. I had a version sent to me by a mate who honestly thought it was "awesome ". So, whilst I don't have a lot to do I thought I would have a crack at it.

Gottit!

The routine is called An Englishman in New York (Or A Divvie From Essex) and is in Wayne Dobson - The Definitive Collection and an earlier version is in Dobson's Choice 1.

It was originally written by Wayne for Joe Pasquale (hence the alternative title!) who used it very successfully. Wayne's own presentation is different as he explains in The Definitive Collection. You might have to rethink the gay joke which, although probably OK-ish at the time would probably not be acceptable these days - actually there are one or two other things which might need rethinking but not too difficult to edit/replace!
