Two and a half million views the last time I checked. Probably 3 million by now! All in the space of two days! Fame at last!

Some of the comments are rather bizarre. They range from people wanting me to be their grandfather to various daft women saying they have fallen in love with me. Truly the internet is a very odd place!

TEN MILLION views now! For a trick a lot of schoolboys know! Incidentally they put up another video yesterday., I don't think it will do as well as the first one but the results are not too bad so far nevertheless --about 120 thousand by the look of it.
Here it is anyway: https://www.tiktok.com/@lifescrazy25/vi ... 8945700036

As I said in another post somewhere Mark, it has surprised me over the last few years just how many of 'the younger set' have never seen a Svengali pack, or a Sven routine before. What was once a little present for under the Christmas tree, has no doubt been replaced by the latest iPhone.

As far as TikTok is concerned, I'd never really watched it before - I thought it was just attention-seekers performing short dances for their 15 seconds of fame (as per the TikTok Ads that appear on Youtube). However, no doubt millions of brainwashed automatons across the planet deem it essential entertainment, so each to their own.

That said, it has brought your demonstrations into the public gaze - so that can't be a bad thing.

As we've also mentioned before, for sheer entertainment value, I don't think a Svengali routine can be bettered - it's card magic eye-candy. That said, a well-presented Nudist Deck routine is also up there for pure, visual entertainment.

Just to finally add that your inclusion of a fifth card for 'Now You See It' (as per the new clip) is a superb addition to a classic effect.

Your Annotated RRTCM really should be in every Magician's library who has an interest in the very best that Card Magic has to offer.

Hi Barry and thank you for your kind comments. Actually there are now three videos of my work on TikToc. The original svengali one has had 14 MILLION views! However the other two seem to be popular too and in fact one of them has garnered 3 million in 3 days! Here they are: https://www.tiktok.com/@lifescrazy25
In one of them I am actually doing the "Now You See It" version you mention. However, I wouldn't ignore the original Royal Road version either. In fact I used to get fantastic reaction from that too in my early days. However, when I started to work in certain venues which needed a faster pace I devised the 5 card version. However, I am also a believer in the concept that certain tricks suit certain atmospheres better than others. If you happen to be in a quiet attentive atmosphere where you can take your time the original 4 card version can get a fantastic reaction. You use a slower but very effective behind the back force which is so deceptive it might even fool magicians. Also with four cards they are more likely to point to the correct card.
However in the more hectic atmosphere of a trade show or a more lively venue the slow behind the back version would take far too long so that is why I went over to the version under discussion that I am doing now.

There's got to be a publicity tagline in there somewhere for your website(s) Mark - given that many views of your work.

I'm not sure whether you can sell via TikTok - because with that level of interest, that's quite a few Svengali packs you could potentially flog!

As for your point about certain tricks for particular audiences - I agree with you entirely. I wonder just how many Magicians even consider this important point; and are able to change/deliver their act/presentation style accordingly?

It is such an important point that is so often overlooked. No doubt like yourself, you sometimes just have to learn the hard way. I guess it is what experience brings along - but I also have to wonder how many lecturers approach this matter, to at least plant the seed in the minds of people new to the Art of Magic?

Actually you will see me discuss that "judging the mood" matter with Mahdi Gilbert here. I start yapping about it at 18.55 minutes in.
