Cards that are signed as part of a trick

Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

I think a dry wipe pen might work, the ones used for writing on whiteboards and such.

I think i have one of them pens about somewhere so i'll try find it and give it a whirl on one of them bike Texas Hold'em Rules cards. I would have never thought they'd have a use :P

Edit: Nope they dont work :P they wipe off a bit but not fully.

They are called "Crayola Erasables" You can buy them in Wilkinsons Woolworths etc. Only problem is that they are not permanent, so require a minute or so to dry! They come with an eraser that can be used to remove of paper card etc. But a "moist" (Great word!) cloth can be used to remove from a shiny surface eg. playing card.

But honestly would you wait for around a minute before doing the trick? e.g. Ambitious card: "Here! Sign your card... now I'm just gonna wait for a minute or so for it to dry... hold on...". No, I don't think you would.

As for myself, I keep a deck just for signed card effects. It doesn't even matter if the deck isn't complete! I just don't emphasize that the deck isn't complete and if they ask, I just say I lost some cards and they have no reason to argue with that.

No, I dont use them either, just trying to offer a sort of answer... When you can buy a pack of bikes for £1 @ costco, I have no problems with people signing my cards with a sharpie.

International Magic sell Bicycle seconds... cards that were deemed inferior for use in the retail packs of Bikes.

I'm not sure how much they are, about £1.50 I think, but to the regular spectator, they're not going to look any different to a normal deck.

I use these when I'm doing Torn, as you can't get away without giving the spectator a souvenir card. As they're so cheap, I don't mind ripping them up, folding them, etc...

Another alternative for signed card routines, is to borrow their deck. Not only do you find/restore their signed card, they have a permanant souvenir in the deck of cards.

Hope this helps.
