REVIEW FOR: Coins on Edge by Kainoa Harbottle

Postby dynamiteassasin » Aug 13th, '05, 15:11

Coins On Edge could be found in Mr. Kainoa Harbottle's page www.kainoaland.com

I got the book out of recommendations of many well known magicians in another forum. I gave it a try and I was not disappointed.

Coins On Edge is a gem for all the serious coin worker. Yes it contains really hard stuff and some easy ones. The sleights are revolutionary and really well thought of.

The Three Fly using only Edge Grip is worth the price of the book. It will require tons of practice to get it down smoothly.
Pendulum Hanging Coins is a brilliant take on the classic plot where you look really squeeky clean. This is a routine that is a good tool to practice the Edge Grip sleights.
I'll leave the other routines for your own discovery. All of them are really good.

If you are a magician who hates practice time then this is not the book for you but if you are willing to learn "real coin magic", I highly recommend this book.

How can anyone truly call themselves a magician if they hate practice?

It's the foundation of magic and the source of so much enjoyment. I would estimate that a successful and busy magician still spends a fraction of his time performing in comparrison to the time that he devotes to practice and rehearsal.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

I try to spend an hour every day practicing. My family and friends are always suffering my endless repetition of the same trick for them while I work on getting it perfect.

Can you tell me: are the routines suitable for stand-up? or are they table?
Thanks
Bob
