Bottle Levitation, secrets revealed.

HEy guys,

I saw a bottle levitation trick that is AMAZING. The magician can hold a bottle and let go and it remains floating there.

I wonder how it is done, any ideas?

One born every minute, innit...

For just £29.99 you can not only find out how it's done, you can do it yourself!

I don't know why you guys are so mean, just tell him.

Ok here goes but you better keep it secret, we don't want everyone knowing.

Idealy this effect is done outside at something like a BBQ.

You will need a sky hook and a large ball of invisible string. Pull off about 10ft of string and cut it with a knife, not scissors as it will not work if cut with scissors. Attach one end of the invisible string to the bottle and the other end to the sky hook about 9ft above the bottle. To be really certain no one will spot the skyhook 20ft above will make it practically invisible like the string to anyone that doesn't have a pair of binoculars and know where to look. Normally people don't look up anyway.

Ok casually pick up the bottle and at the right moment tug the string, this will cause the sky hook to reel in about a foot, let go of the bottle and it will rise and float. If you don't want it to rise then don't tug.

There you have it, but don't tell a soul. Hope that helped.

I found this works better if you use a left-handed knife to cut the string. Don't know why, though I read somewhere it's something to do with the perambulation of psuedo-cosmic antimatter, or something.

You can pick up a long-stand from your local hardware shop if you're having trouble attaching the thread to the sky hook.

It's a great trick if you pull it off correctly... hope this helps.

Mark, the left handed knife only works if actually used in your left hand, as I'm right handed I discovered this to my cost as the extra tension caused on the string by a poor cut causes it to snap at the most inappropiate moments.

So if using a left handed knife don't forget to use your left hand.

Common sense really.

Oops

My apologies for making such a blatant assumption. How could I forget which hand you need to use the tools in?

Most of my tools are left-handed... hammer, screwdriver, even my coffee cup!

I hear B&Q will be getting some striped paint in soon...

SHAME ON YOU GUYS

Everyone knows that you should spend all your income on psychic books and teachings, then give away all your worldly possesions upon which time you`ll become a patron saint. Then you can do any manner of things, the least of which is float a bottle..... :P

No ! you must gain inner balance to perform this trick. First you stand on the highest mountain, on one leg while wearing an aqualung. Stay there and meditate for 60 years, only then will you truly achieve your goals

Can anyone let me know where I can buy a sky hook, just in case PDaddy starts another thread asking this question?

You can get one from the top shelf at ASDA, next to the diabetic soap.

If you are having trouble putting up the sky hook, I find it's much easier to use a skirting board ladder.
