Just to butt in, seems to me that the only place to use a good Ace production is in an Ace routine. For example, say you're doing Twisting the Aces. In that case, instead of just spreading through to find the aces, how about spreading through to 'remove the jokers' then producing the aces with a flourish...

GoldFish wrote:Just out of interest (and it's a question that has bugged whenever I see somebody do these flourishes), how do you present these to spectators? Do you include them in regular magic routines or just present them on their own? If so how? Sorry to be so nosy but it intrigues me that these can form an interesting performance piece. I hate to draw the similarity, but in my mind I can't see these being any more astonishing than a juggling display. Of course, I have never learnt any such flourishes myself, so I'm not in a position to comment on the dexterity involved, but from what I can gather, that is the case.

Sometimes it is the case that these flourishes can't play a huge part in magic. However, I like to do flourishes as a sign of dexterity and an opener. By opener, I mean, I start of by talking to some people and talk about I can do magic. Then I get out my cards and say I sometimes do these fancy stuff and I give the deck a few shuffles. And while I say that, I do a few riffles, shuffles and springs. Then maybe a few cross charliers and some random cuts. Then I move onto a few magic tricks.

Just today, I performed magic to a bunch of people and I did a few flourishes before doing magic, and they said "Wow... I'm already impressed!"
So it does show some good stuff...

Your card skills are really good. I've learnt some of those cuts myself (just not as good if you've seen my hat trick video. I was particularly fascinated by the molecue 2 and the Maladroit cuts. I've been trying to learn them from your video. My molecule 2 isn't too bad but I've got a way to go yet on my maladroit.

The molecule 2 cut is rather simple IMO. You'll need to know T.G Murphy's deck flip for it. A tip on the flip is to use little pressure. It would seem logical to use more pressure for a flip but that actually makes it worse. Make the deck feel as part of you and it'll just flow.

Not a bad idea trying to learn from my video for the molecule 2 because the teaching in the System is just slowed down version of the move lol.

I'm gonna have to learn me a few of those cuts! Not only do they look fancy, but they suit the kind of card magic I do!

Right, I'm off to study the video about 50 times :P.....
