I thought that one of the selling point of Earplugs was that they were easy to see because they were yellow...if not never mind though.

Sponge balls sounds like a good idea actually - the only question is whether you are going to be able to see them easily from the back of the auditorium. You can get bigger ones - it might be worth getting a few just to see if they are better.

I have an expanding sponge ball (the one where you put it in your fist and then it grows to double or triple the size) which is no use whatsoever close up but I wonder if it would be better showing it on the stage as the tricky part would be less obvious because of the distance and because people can't ask to see the sponge ball.

Apart from that, levitating things (e.g. hummer card) is quite impressive so as long as the lighting is right so Hummer card would be quite nice.

Much as I can't stand the Linking Rings, you should consider them for this size of stage (Ideally, a full, eight-ring routine)

And D'Lites.

And don't forget rope routines.

Just remember, you'll be on that stage alone, essentially, and you will have to make it look full.

Forget about small tricks that nobody can see; they will cause you to lose the audience and you'll never get them back.

hmmm. once again im bringing this topic back up. i have improved ALOT when i first started this topic. what i might do is come on stage moving stuff and complaning about cold hands and blast out inviso-torch by jim pace (picked it up at taiwan :D ). i might do hummer card, never done it (but that means my audience has never seen it either). i like the hummer card idea because the evyerbody in the auditorum can see. and i got myself a little bit of flash paper and im very very tempted to buy in a flash and try to do it. the spectators can see what the card is, even on the top row of the room.

i might also add just a simple silk vanish with the TT, dunno how to add that in. and i remember watching one of david copperfield's routine on dvd with the "vanishing egg" where he had one spectator sit and he vanished the egg, but the audience knows what he is actully doing with the egg.

any thoughts?

My suggestion would be a Rope routine, Paper Balls over the Head, maybe some dove work if your into that type of thing or card manipulations. If you dont have camera and a big screen to work with I would say stay away from coins. You could still do money like Harry Andersons Cufflinks or something

gah... i've been doing more thinking about the talent show. and i decided that i should just keep it very simple and have the whole audience to interact with the trick.

i might keep the inviso torch intro (cause i probley wont have any other time to use it :D ) and i was looking at the Gazzo tossed out deck
