Review

I saw this whilst doing a search and was intrigued and couldn't resist it at the price. It took a couple of minutes to learn and so far I've performed this a couple of dozen times in the past two days. The reactions that I've got from everyone makes this a stunning buy and nobody works it out.

You can repeat perform to the same spec again with confidence that they won't figure it out, but don't go overboard

Overall

Value for money 10
Reaction 9
Ease 10
Overall 10

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

Isn't this covered in Mark Wilsons Complete Course in Magic ?
And a lot of other publications for that matter

Hodkinson - not sure if it's covered in Mark Wilson's book as I don't own a copy.

i1011i - I thought that it would be easier for everyone to watch the film clip than to write it all up

point - lucky you but I wouldn't call it a joke.

Personally, I hadn't seen this before stumbling on the link but as stated, for the money the reactions that I've got are very pleasing and it fits in nicely with my other rope work which is why I was interested in it in the first place

Hardly a trick as well...it depends on the patter I guess but I never got the reactions as I do with "tricks"...maybe because I've learned it as a kid....it was besides 21 card trick my first "trick"....

I can't help but disagree with that. It tricks people into thinking that the eye has been threaded so in my opinion it's a trick. I suppose it's whether you think that it's a good one or not :?:

I do agree that with everyting, presentation does make a difference. Why not give it another try and you may be surprised

I do remember John Lenahan doing this on Stuff The White Rabbit to a great audience response.
Just because the item is available elsewhere or for a cheaper price should not detract in any way from the effect. The fact that the knot will not pass back through the eye on the second demonstration makes this an impossible miracle to those that are not in the know.

I saw that too, then i tried to figure it out. Suddenly i found a way to do it.
Years later i discovered that i did it 'the wrong way'. Now, if you hand a rope to a spectator and ask them to copy your moves with the 'right' method, thay will most likely also succeed in doing the trick. On the other hand, if i ask them to copy my moves, the only thing that will happen is that they will pull the loop out of their hands.

This one is also great for doing it with someone's computer mouse (unless they have a cordless one :? )

The thing about this trick is that if you do this consecutively for a while, you lose blood to your thumb... LoL!

MW's complete course in magic covers eye of the tiger

Postby Pitto » Nov 10th, '05, 20:32

Hodgkinson this trick is covered in MW's complete course in magic. I personally think this is a good trick. i showed it to a mate and he dragged me round for ages getting me to show it to different people. The other good thing is that the method is so simple people don't figure it out.

If you learnt it from MW's complete course in magic. then an additional idea is to tie a knot in the end you are threading through it makes the effect 100 times better (i think)

I agree with the knot and that's the version that I use. It looks a hundred times more impossible :? if that's possible
