sylvester pitch

Postby kirko » Nov 24th, '05, 04:23

My short video of my sylvester pitch, been working on it for awhile, even met Sylvester himself and got tips... But i still need practice and i havent even shown it to anyone yet.... Any tips would be appreciated.... I pitch lightning fast, so fast that the coin smacks my hand and you can hear it, but i think maybe it is too fast sometimes... I know I need to slow down first of all, but i can only record 15 seconds at a time on my camera so i tried to get as many pitches as i can in the 15 seconds... I try to show the coin a lot as my misdirection for the pitch, because as we all know, a large movement covers a small... Anyone do this move and have any tips? What do u think of it>? The quality is far from good but what do u expect from my digi camera i guess.... :?

Nice job!

Your productions are good, but you may want to work a bit more on your shuttle pass. Your hands never really come close enough to make the move convincing.

Also, don't make the turns of your hands so rigid and stiff. Keep your hands moving smoothly and more natural.

Great first try, and you're already well on your way with this routine. I'm becoming more and more fond of coin work these days. I have LOTS of work to do!!!

Doesn't anyone here understand the Sylvester Pitch? You can't really see in the video but he keeps producing a coin in his left hand.

The Pitch is a move for tossing a coin from one hand to the other, but at the same time loading another coin into the first hand for a production.

Very very nice work!

Well ok, thanks for the clearification, but I can't say if it's good work or not, because I can't hardly see what's going on....

Alright, I suppose that makes a little sense, but it still LOOKS like there's a retention of the coin in your left hand. Maybe if the lighting was better.

I aggree. I'm unfamiliar with this move and when I saw it I thought all you were doing was production, false transfer, production, false transfer, etc. It really didn't look particularly natural and I was going to suggest that your timing was off for the false transfer.

Keep working on it and mybe don't do it "lightning fast". Try and make it look as natural as possible.

Another idea for deomonstrating this move would be to use two different coloured coins, otherwise people will just think its a false transfer.

All the best,

Will Wood

The point of the Sylvester Pitch is to make it look as though the coin is tossed from one hand to another, which it does! That's what you have missed out.

Try and capture the flight of the coin from one hand to another... this would make the pitch much more easier to understand.
