RaMa

Postby DrTodd » Mar 11th, '06, 18:17

This deck rocks! Had a great time with it last night, and the spectators simply accused me of witchcraft

I can add to the chorus of recommendations for this deck....can't wait to use it with other combinations, etc.

for anyone who owns the Rama Deck there is a brand new routine available FREE at http://www.spocmagic.com/phpBB/

it is on the hidden Rama Deck thread (which you can get on if you own one!).

it is an absolutely unbelieveable 'Out Of This World', which TalkMagic's own BananaFish came up with. honestly, it is a fabulous bit of magic.

imagine an OOTW where your spectator can shuffle AND examine the deck FACEUP at any point in the routine! it is awesome.

if you own a Rama and haven't signed up for the forum (and don't want to), just drop me a PM/email with the 6th word from the backpage of the instructions, and i'll send you the PDF and VIDEO TUTORIAL for the free effect!

wahey!

Self consruction?

Postby shaunkara » Oct 2nd, '06, 15:03

I use a specific deck throughout my routine. I don't use red or blue bikes. I only use the one deck design to maintain visual consistency. If I buy a Rama Deck, will there be instructions as to how to construct the deck myself? I do not wish to switch deck design in mid routine and I will not changed my preferred deck either.

Thanks for the help :)

Just got my Rama deck, (think it was from you ozman....did we recently exchange emails (draigbiker?)??) what a fantastic deck. nice and quick to pick up, easy to apply, so many ways to fit it into your set. if you work with cards, get a deck.

You wont be disappointed, one of the best gimmicked decks I’ve seen. So natural to use no one will suspect a thing ‘cause all your movements are fluid, took no time at all to feel comfortable with it.

Not hugely impressed

Postby xpyre » Dec 20th, '06, 10:43

I bought one and immediately consigned it to the reject pile.

I can memorise decks quite easily and I mark all my cards... If you can do both of these things (both free!) then I think this is not worth the money.

You can riffle shuffle it but it sounds like any deck manufactured in the same way. You can get the spectator to do it and they will notice that it feels funny (even if they only play cards occassionally)- I'm not saying they would spot why that is.

If I'm using a gimmick I want it to do something that can't be done any other way. However, on the whole if you can't memorise decks this will give you a way to do many of the predicitive tricks that look "impossible... and therefore if you like gimmicked decks this is no worse than any other.

Your seemingly negative review disregards the other methods and theories which accompany the RAMA, none of which could be 'replicate' easily.

And you've also skipped straight to the Marking aspect, which ISN'T the key feature of the RAMA.

I am not sure which is the unreplicatable effect you are thinking of that I "missed". Please tell me and I'll go back and give it a go.

My big problem with it is that the deck is not IMHO handlable by the audience, certainly not by my sceptical card wielding friends, who would know instantly that it was a gimmicked deck.

That makes it useless for me.

Maybe in a performance to strangers/laymen where the deck gets less heat it would be ok.

All I was saying is that there's so much more than 'memorised' or marked deck effects to the RaMa. Didn't mean to sound harsh!

A little 'thinking outside the box' is required before resigning it to your bottom drawer.

As you are a RaMa deck owner, I suggest watching the accompanying DVD.

There's a good deal of stuff if you look beyond the basics with this one, and it's definately worth the effort.

I've watched the DVD... although it was a month ago. Can't remember anything that leapt out at me.

Maybe I've just had an imagination failure.

Maybe I couldn't get over the disappointment at not letting the audience inspect the cards.

I also find that I struggled to use the deck as a normal deck because quite a few standard sleights are made virtually impossible (or at least more visible) because of the nature of the deck.
