Mental Card

Postby rcarlsen » Jan 3rd, '06, 18:21

This is my new routine, which as far as I know, I have created myself.

No gimmicks. No setup. No forces. No memorized deck. Just one regular deck of cards which can be shuffled by anyone.

As always, all comments welcome.

Really good, well done. I couldn't spot anything sneaky there at all, very fair. I think some more patter is needed but you have a brilliant little trick there. 8)

Nice effect and nicely done. I think I know how you do it, but it's a good idea!

I thought that the patter was just fine as it is - very minimalist yet appropriate for the illusion. I think that too much patter on this one could detract from the effect.

I think that you would perhaps need to give carefull thought as to what other tricks this one would fit in well with.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

Hehehe I liek this one. I thought your presentation was great, your 'mental stare' was fantastic. It actually felt like you were reading my mind, even though I was just watching the video

We finally see Rune's face! :D.

I very much like that effect actually. It's simple and to the point, but still very impressive. I still don't know for sure how it works - I have a guess but it's just that, a guess.

Congrats on yet another one Rune!

thats a good one man.
regular deck you say? kinda looked like you were spotting a marking at one point. but i know it can be done with no gimmicks, and you do it well.
i usually do a trick like that by say "just say the name of the card to yourself over and over in your head" then start mouthing the name of the card, they soon fall into the same rythm

There are many ways of presenting this trick but this was done great. However because i recognised a move from an ambitious card routine, it was kind of easy to spot where the 'magic' actually happend but this would easily fool many.
