Peter Kane would have been proud!.. even if you did use the darwin ortiz handling  nice show of the last ace though..liked that idea. the only thing wrong was the video kept stopping as it loaded the next bit which kinda annoyed me but other than that it was well done. I'd try and slow down the showing of the 4 black cards a bit..it looked rushed

Thanks :D I didn't know who invented it, and my rubbish camera

Is the Peter Kane version the one that Rune did? If so, where could I learn it

Nicely done.

The first two Ace transpos were handled well. The elmsley was a bit loose, but a layman wouldn't notice.

I have a problem with the final transpo, though. You have the cards in hand, then picked up the tabled card, which is supposed to be the ace of clubs. However, you place it on top of the packet - and when you turn the cards over, it's now on the bottom. You then turn the packet over and table the top card. To me, this seemed incredibly obvious.

As mog said, it seemed a little rushed. However, since you didn't have sound, the lack of patter is what made the effect move faster. Great job! This is another favorite effect of mine.

Peter Kane is the guy who invented the routine.

You pick up the final tabled card (which is supposed to be the final ace) and place it on top of the packet. Thus your spectator thinks "he put the ace on top of the packet"

You then turn the packet over and show the ace on the bottom of the packet. This is highly suspicious, as it doesn't make sense. (as is the massive break you hold while displaying the ace-but that's really the angle of the camera, not a flaw of technique).

I'm not knocking the actual vanish of the ace - that part was well done. I'm just saying the prep work is suspect. An alert spec will see this as incongruous. While it doesn't ruin the final revelation, it can create an air of doubt (most notably, a spec may think you're using more than one Ace of clubs).

Sorry if I wasn't clear on that.

Yeh there was a big break and I should have made that smaller, but that is not what happens

You pick up the "Ace of Clubs" and do a DL, so it is not on the bottom

I say this is the is the ace of clubs, do the double, then place it over to the side.

It might have looked like that because of the angle and the rubbish camera, but that is what i did

:D

Edit: I just watched the video again, and it is the bad angle that makes it look like that  Sorry :D

Oh, I see it now. From that angle it looked like you turned the packet over. My apologies.

A nice performace - but ive always been sceptical of this trick, not being very commercial. A great trick to show other magicians, as you can really go to town with card skills and manipulations, colour changes etc. But in my experience to laymen, they do not appreciate it as much as many other tricks. Once theyve seen the ace change once, almost certainly twice they know exactely what to expect.

just a thought...

but nonetheless - a great presentation

Keep up the good work

Alex

Yeh it does look like that  Next time I'll need to check my angles :D

I do a variation of this effect, which stemmed from a John Guastaferro version, using Jacks.

Basically, I have the four jacks (or, in my patter "princes") who travel into the black forests to search for their fortune.

Naturally, the black spot cards are the "forest" And each prince disappears in the forest.

Throughout the routine, I don't show the jacks again - the card is laid down and the jack vanishes. My patter speaks of great battles and trials that the princes go through. In the end, I finish with 4 face down cards on the table.

The reaction is that the jacks are there - but as my kicker - I talk about how they won many battles, defeated armies, gained land and power - and in the end, those princes became Kings (4 tabled cards are turned over to show the four kings)

I prefer this to the typical Jazz Aces since it has a story suited to my tastes - and as ultimatecreate pointed out - this handling throws the people for a loop, since they expect to see the jacks, not the kings.

Once I buy my video camera (I got the $ for one for Xmas!!!) I'll try to video this. It's one of my favorite presentations.
