Bill switch

Postby greedoniz » Feb 8th, '06, 13:35

Hello

I am looking to buy some tyvek envelopes so I can practice the bill switch for the Fan Mail routine on the Front Row sankey Dvd.
Now I can only seem to find tyvek envelopes on sale in bulk on the internet and I dont want to particularly spend £20 + on a load of them. Does anyone know where I can get tyvek envelopes?
and if anyone knows this routine or the bill switch (Some guys name I can spell Kevslowski?) does tyvek make it that much easier?

My brother is a printer, and he gets me A4 sheets of Tyvek. Plus, it's more like real paper than the envelopes.

Will be for sale on NUMS shortly, or PM me if anyone is interested.

FYI... Tyvek is 'plastic' untearable paper.

Nice one!

Let me know when they are available I'll be well interested. I'm not registered with NUMS yet but I'll keep an eye out for when the registration is up and running again.

Until then I presume regular paper can be used to practice the bill switch?

Yeah, regular paper can be substituted.

Tyvek is more like 'money paper', because you can fold and re-fold a gazillion times before it tears etc.

As for NUMS registrations, I can't wait to become a member either!

Cue digression:

Tyvek is an amazing substance.

I used to use it in the kids club I ran. We'd make kites with - it can be decorated, drawn on, coloured in, stuck together etc etc but just won't rip or tear. Brilliant.

Thanks for listening.

Greedoniz,
you don't actually need Tyvek to practice the switch with, just use normal paper. Sankey recommends Tyvek because it can be reused over and over in performance. However if you want to get the moves down, normal paper (eg cut to the size of a bill if you want to do blank to bil, or 2 blanks if you want to do Fan Mail)

Good luck and remember to get it very smooth before you go and practice it.

Cheers for that!

I actually spent all last night practicing the bill switch with normal paper and can see how the oily slidiness of Tyvek can help precedings.
I still haven't got it quite smooth yet, having problems with the TT sliding out of my grip part way through the switch but I'm sure I'll get it sooner or later.
