Actually, an interesting point: who DOES use a wand?

I used to, many mooooneth ago, use a magic wand... but in a very hokey way.

Thinking about it—magic wands add a little 'wizardry' to magic, which to me is a bad thing, as I find it a little hokey.

It's just a symbol really but one which, as mentioned, is almost universally recognised as one used by conjurers as opposed to the Harry Potter type for 'Wizards.' As there is the ceremony of the broken wand for departed magicians, it doesn’t matter whether the performer is a cardie, big stage illusionist, or a skilful with ropes and sponge balls, the wand would serve to indicate magic in it's widest sense. Just MHO!

That was my thought, hence my reference as 'ambiguous' magic iconics.

PS If the symbol isn't required then how about just an intertwined stylised T and M - people can ask what it stand sfor and the answer can be changed to suit! (Totally Mad comes to mind very swiftly!)

What about a masonic-style logo with the T and the M overlayed and a wand perhaps over the top?

And for Mentalists, a totally blank badge 'cos they all know what we mean.......

For badge design to actually mean ANTHING, especially for the purpose of recognition, clarity is key.

Not too sure that 'TM' is enough.

How about a hidden card symbol for revelation purposes?

If we get as far as T-Shirts, its a super sized 3 of clubs on the back.

As for the suggested new logo - I like it.

Would I buy an enamel lapel pin - yes! it does stand to reason that the logo and the pin should be the same in my opinion.
