I've seen this request on a couple of other forums.

They, like this one, have asked for more details, as it is very vague.

No answers have been forthcomming yet.

Has anyone sent anything in yet, if so, have you recieved any sort of reply?

More Details - as requested

Postby paulandrews » Mar 22nd, '06, 08:25

As requested here are more details:

We are looking for a group of Young Magicians for the second series of Tricky TV - we featured a number of performers in the first series and the section of the show proved highly popular. The item sees the group of magicians showing tricks to each other, the presenter (Stephen Mulhern) or directly to the camera.

To help us select suitable performers for this years series we are looking for magicians under 18 to send a video and list of effects that they perform in to us, so that we can select suitable performer to be considered for the show.

We look forward to hearing from you. The address to send tapes to is Paul Andrews, The Foundation, PO BOX 981, ME14 5NZ. (Unfortunately we cannot return copies)

Any other queries I would be happy to answer via email trickytv@paulmagic.co.uk

PAUL ANDREWS

Paul,

I'm nowhere near the age range, but I do know that the people who supply content deserve payment for any work that makes it to broadcast. What's the fee?

Well I have recieved an email from the Production Co-ordinator of Tricky TV with a form to fill out. I need to wait until the morning because I'm not sure of some of the stuff

(Well, I know what it is but I can't fill it in at the moment)

Wish me luck.

I knew a Paul Andrews, magician, around 40 or so years ago. He did some stunt on TV where he trained a volunteer to do some escape stunt or other. I cannot remember the details but I do remember the volunteer ended up extremely dead. It got a fair bit of publicity at the time and the poor magician was somewhat traumatised over the matter.

It wasn't you was it?

40 sounds a long time ago (mid 1960s). I remember a box escape on a Noel Edmonds show (Late Late Breakfast Show?) that went badly wrong for a spec about 15 years ago.

Anyway, the bottom line is that whoever they take deserves payment for their work. After all, if it wasn't for the performers, there'd be no show!

It was indeed the Noel Edmunds show but I am sure it was more than 15 years ago. Let us compromise. I said 40 years and you say 15. Let us split the difference and say 20 to 25 years ago.

I do know the chap was named Paul Andrews and he worked for Ron Macmillan at one time. I think he had ambitions to become a priest or something holier than thou but it didn't pan out.

How about 1986 for a good compromise? Check out http://www.mediauk.com/the_knowledge/i.muk/Noel_Edmonds
