I know how the trick works but seems a little pricey for £30. I know this brand of products are good, but does anyone know of a cheaper kind that are just as good?
I will recommend that you beware of cheap immitations from places such as ebay. You're safe if you buy from a reputable dealer or from established members on magic forums such as TM.
If you buy a genuine Gibson coin then you can't go far wrong! Definately worth the investment for such a precision piece.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!
Whilst the pricipal may be simple when you know how it works, the engineering involved in the manufacture (of the Eddie Gibson product) is very precise and far from simple. I know the price sounds high but IMHO it is a trick well worth the money and an absolute stunner to most laymen. I particularly like to do the trick under a glass where everything is in full view until the vanish. People just can't work it out and I find that it is so well made that I don't have a problem having it examined.
I completely agree with the coin under the glass vanish. you can cause it to vanish then just let the spectator lift the glass and pick up the remaining coin...so well made too that when I recieved it through the post it took me a few minutes to work it out (and I knew the gimmick)
Yup, the Gibson is great. A worthy investment, even though I'm on my second.
The first, of course, ended up in a pub till - and I know I'm not the first!
Never quite had the courage to hand it out for examination though.
I have handed out on many occasions and noone has ever figured it out. The only problem I do get is the "Well you wont mind if I keep it then" comment which invariably comes next. It is at this point I jump over the table and aggressively wrestle my "pound" back.
Actually everyone so far has handed it back if you play it cool and just make light of how you only lend money to trustworthy people.
