If you're adept in:
1. Php programming
2. Server architecture
3. Basic HTML
4. MySQL and it's basic operation
5. Bughunting
6. FTP—uploading, moving, renaming, chmodding and permissions etc.
then yeah, go for it.
The NUMS site runs with a seige-modified OSCommerce shell, and it literally took a month before it was functioning right.
Luckily, as a web designer, I know PHP, SQL etc. and mostly I sailed through it. But when you hit a brick wall, like knowing what your sendmail root is, or your server root path (i.e. not
http://flashmagic.co.uk, but something like var/bin/domain/user/httpfolder/flashmagic/store)
It all gets a bit long winded, and unless you have a good background of how a server operates, and how to use something like phpMyAdmin to setup your tables etc. in your SQL database, then I'd leave it alone.
Your site currently is functional, and works. But obviously as time goes on, you'll need something to handle more products etc.
OSCommerce is a fantastic choice, but in my opinion, it's aimed at developers.
