Where to get started

Postby Dirty Davey » Jul 26th, '06, 12:31

I'm sorry if this has been asked a million times before but I'm looking for a good starting point.

Been doing basic Paul Daniels Magic Set kind of stuff for years but I want to start getting a bit more serious about it now.

I've got a good book on beginners mentalism which goes through the Si Stebbins stack and 14/15 stack and shows how to use them and have got a few basic tricks using them, as well as a simple ESP trick.

What I'm looking for is a good book, website or what ever to start taking things further. I'm mainly interested in the mentalism and close up street magic kind of stuff rather than stage magic. All the books I can find only go through the very basics, I'm looking to step up to the next level. Any ideas on good books or other resources would be fantastic.

Cheers

Cheers Bronz

What I was really after is a recomendation of a good resource. I've got a few books but they all only deal with the basic sleights and the tricks really aren't that impressive. The mentalism book I got recently has really opened my eyes to what's possible, I'm just looking for some way of learning more of that.

There are plenty of books on Amazon one magic, I just don't want to end up spending money on another 'this is how you palm a card' book.

If you're into mentalism I suggest 13 steps to mentalism by corinda and as for magic in general I'd suggest Paul Zenon's street magic book as well as Mark Wilsons complete course in magic, Bobos modern coin magic and royal road to card magic books

Thanks Misanthropy, I'll have a search on the web for those.

As Misanthropy says, Mark Wilson's complete course in magic is great because it covers everything, and is clearly illustrated and explained.
It teaches all the basics and more.
Highly reccommended.
