When I'm doing anything to do with sticking cards together/back together I use spray mount. Its easy, only a thin layer is need/applied and it sticks pretty damn well.
3M is the brand I used but i guess there isnt much difference.

Rubber Cement used to be sold in tubes under the brand name of 'Cow Gum' at one time. No idea why they called it 'Cow' but if you sniff it too much it sends you mad.

I find pulling two layer working the front of the card, is the best way to leave the 1 back layer the clean and with few wrinkles. (If that makes sense) and then cutting the whole back when making f_n cards with it.

I saw people talk about soaking them but that doesn't seem like a good idea to me. By my forth or fifth attempt at it was pretty clean. By the time I made ten they looked sweet and left me with a few sketchy ones to practice with.

Im not too bad at card splitting, i learnt it off colour fusion, which is a very good dvd, any way, i make alot of gimmicked cards now, i use a sharpe blade and scare the card into quarters and then get all the pieces off which takes only a few minutes once the you have got the nack.

Then the difficult bit is gettin the bit of the other card in one piece, i normally have old cards in my draw so i can afford to screw us, you got to take your time doing this bit as one bit goes wrong the whole thing goes wrong, you have to dog ear an end of the card before hand and then peel the layer off.

Glueing the card i just use prick stick nice and simple does the trick, then stick it on and put it into a heavy book over night.

I have the Marty Grams aka Martini DVD "The Art of Card Splitting" and armed with both this and the Eric James "Colour Fusion" method I still think the key to this is perseverance.

Martini gives some good advice on flattening the card after the split and re-glue, he rolls (scrapes?) the card across the edge of a table against the bend. I now use a card press to flatten all my fusion and split cards and it really helps, just make sure there's no excess glue.

I think I'm going to try the spray mount suggestion from earlier as well.
