Hi, my name is Daniel. Im 16 and I love majic. I always want to impress and surprise people with magic but I dont know any tricks. I dont have much money to buy books on magic and most of my money is drained on my other hobby. Ive looked online yet found no help in learning magic tricks. Im Eager to start learning and I hope you all accept another newbie. I dont really know my way around this forum yet so if you could point me in the right direction that would be nice.

Cheers.

Hello, but remember that no one who respects the secrets of magic gives it away. You'll just have to divert cash from your other hobby. Sorry, but it all depends on not exposing things.

No, I dont want you to tell me, I just want to help find low cost resources to help me learn. I also want tips on slight of hand as Im really bad at it. Just general stuff, nothing specific. Thats why Im here, I know your not just supposed to reveal secrets. Anyways, I headed over to my local library and picked up some books. I do know 3 really basic tricks now.

Excellent!!!
You have done the right thing.

If you are on a tight budget, can I suggest a few things?

Don't buy any tricks. You can normally only use these for one or two effects. Look through the books, pick out a few tricks, which you seem to have done, then learn the sleights you need for these.
Next, concentrate on the patter and performance for these, before even thinking about showing them to anyone.

Slowly build up, so you can vary what you do.

If you want to learn other types of magic, these are some of the other cheap or no cost options.

Coin magic.
Rubber band magic.
Impromptu with everyday objects, so no cost.
Rope magic.

Were could I learn the magic with every day objects. Some off the books have some coin magic and rope magic. It be really helpful, if you guys helped point me to more low cost/no cost tricks.

At the risk of repeating myself, no one who respects magic gives it away. Look up "Mathematcs, Magic and Mystery" by Martin Gardner on Amazon.

Check your local library, they should have a ton of books. Also just do a google search for learn magic or magic tricks or something :)

Are you encouraging him to visit sh*tty exposure sites, or to spend time getting a grounding in basics that will take him a lot further? :?

Nah, exposure sites are stupid. Theres a few good ones out there that teach basic card magic and impromptu magic, Theres a few others to that teach basics and have links to more useful material as well. If i wanted to tell him shitty exposure sites i woulda told him to go to a certain well know video sharing site *kicks said site*

I was asking to be pointed to good books to look up at the library or low cost books to buy... I will look that book up though.
