Hello, everyone! My name is Dallas, and I'm a Graphics Designer (well, I'm an amateur - and I pretty much only make forum signatures - but whatever, I'll call myself a Graphics Designer.) I'm 13 years old; but don't hold that against me, please. :P

I live in an igloo in Lansing, Michigan. (Figuratively speaking -- but it really is effing cold up here.)

I'm an old school gamer, with an extensive collection of SNES games including The Secret of Mana, The SNES Mario games, and of course, my favorite, EARTHBOUND! Tell me that there are some other Earthbound fans here...

I'm also a new school (is that even a phrase?) gamer, with an xbox, ps2, and gamecube. I also have all gameboys except for that gay micro thing, including the DS. (worst nintendo product ever. >_>) I also plan to buy myself a PSP for Christmas. (Then I can play all of my favorite games! <3 Homebrew.) I (used) to play Halo 2 on XBL, but then I modded it and got banned. (I only played in custom games, don't flame me. :P) My username was Yo Wang. (Best username EVER! You were killed by Yo Wang... owned.)

I program fairly well in Visual Basic 6, (eww, procedural!) but I know a little bit of C++ as well. I do know HTML, but that's nothing to be too proud about. :P

I love online fads, and tend to quote them fairly often. Favorites include the o rly owl, and www.pwned.nl (IM GUNNA GT SUM UBER HAX AND BAN U FEGGET!11 HEEEEEEEEEEEEE!)

I'm an avid Family Guy fan, and also quote that any time I can. ROCK LOBSTER! I also watch The Simpsons and Futurama. I watch some serious shows, but the only one I watch frequently is House (on Fox on Tuesdays, watch it or die.)

Uh.. yeah, magic. I've always been pretty interested in magic; my dad tries his best to do some tricks but usually ends up failing miserably -- don't tell him that though. :P) To be honest, I do have alternative motives for magic tricks; I'll probably use it to pick up chicks, but the fascination factor of just everyday people and even friends is always cool.

Being a teenager; I don't have much spending money, so I'm mostly interested in coin and card magic -- any advice and a push in the right direction would be highly appreciated.

Anyways, I hope to be pretty active here. :)

BRING ON THE WELCOMES!!!

WElcome - you'll got lots of advice here, but no-one will give any secrets to you.

Good books are always a starting point - and they quite cheap. Do a search on Google for Royal Road to Card Magic, and Modern Coin Magic. Both of these are oldies but goodies, and will give you a good starting point.

Dont go off buying loads of tricks to start - just a couple of books and a few packs of cards (Bicycle backed ones - again look for a magic shop on google)

Old school gamer - I remember seing Super Mario on the SNES for the first time ever, and being blown away. It cost me 400 UKpounds (about 800 dollars) to buy the SNES as a japanese import. How times have changed!

is it me, but even though consoles get more powerfull the games seem to be just re-hash of the same old concept with better graphics? Gone are the days of real innovation I feel.

Anyways - welcome and enjoy.

BTW - VB6 - my boy - you want to try Cobol and the 'old school' languages. (yes Im a VB6 programmer by trade)

Wow!
That's what I call a good introduction :)
Welcome from the home of Santa Claus!
Actually I'm a graphic designer and I see a lot of me in your intro. (And Demitri: Yes, I play guitar)
Buying magic is bloody, but of course you have to respcet the creators of those magic tricks, as long as the Magician's oath.
Stay happy! :D

Thanks for all of the welcomes. Heh -- Cobol? I'm trying to move away from procedural, dude! :P I haven't looked too much into it, though -- lemme see the syntax. VB6 for you as well, eh? Maybe we can talk about it via PM (or I can give you my MSN)

No, I don't play guitar -- unfortunately, my artistic side is pretty much limited to Photoshop (I can't draw for c*** (not the best), and I'm not the most musically inclined person in the world.)

Haha, Iceland eh? I guess I can't talk about it being cold here, compared to there -- although Iceland is the green one though, right?

Thanks for all of the help and recommendations. :)

Yes, that's right. Iceland is not as cold as Greenland. But we are proud of our clean air and pure water :)
...and we know how to have fun :D
