Thought of Rising - Bicycle

Postby BaBaBoom » Nov 29th, '03, 02:45

Hello.

Has anybody used this? I could do with some info if anybody has any.
I am in serious need of a pressie for my cousin, this could just save my life, lol.

He would love this, instant cool at school, if it's viable, thanks in advance for anything given.

Thanks again :)

/me goes back to the drawing board :(

If anybody is reading this and has a gift idea for a 12 year old lad with no skills but a love for magic and looking cool at school, PLEASE let me know.
I don't buy many gimmicks so I'm stuck and I can't get him anything I have or I'll lose my own coolness, in his eyes ;)
Shallow I know, lol.
I liked the idea of something that contained a deck as it might have encouraged further learning.

Cheers, BaB.

There's always the stripper or svengali decks (if you don't have them!) as they are easy and might prompt him to try something with a real deck, or there are quite a few small plastic things like cups and balls or that one where you stick nails through a coin. How about dynamic coins or a simple gimicked coin set of some kind?

Thanks for the ideas, some good thoughts for people browsing the board, no doubt :)
I liked the idea of a gimmick with a normal deck (if indeed that's what it was), so that the only other option he would have to do more would be to read a book ;) nlp and the art of bending my relatives arm behind his back, lol.

I just knew he'd like the Blainesqueness (ive sent the copyrite off on that word, hands off) of the rising deck and the scaryness of it being a random card. I have the stripper etc and I love it but it isn't a true deck and for him that put me off. He has very little patience (but loves Bab Ultimate Magician, lol) and I need a wham-bam-thank-you-mam trick that still leaves him with a real deck for when they've all seen it.

As that isn't the kind of thing I would normaly use I am more clueless than usual.
Thanks again,
BaB

Ok, how about a deck of bikes and something like club sandwich ( you can find a video on jbtv.co.uk). If I remember rightly CS only needs a few simple moves (which I think are described in the instructions, if not you will be able to teach him so you may want to open it to check if you have to get your mortarboard and gown out!) and is very impressive. That way he gets the deck of cards he will need for CS plus the CS itself and an incentive to learn a couple of simple sleights.

He sounds like an ideal age for Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic or Nicholas Einhorns "The Art of Magic and Sleight of Hand".

This way - he gets to experiment with some of the different genres of magic - which is even a good solid basis if he wishes to specialise in something specific later.

Alteratively you could go for RRTCM and a deck of cards, and teach him a few of the tricks from the book - and offer to help with any of the specifics.
