What They Say

You’ve heard of people with uncanny, unimaginable abilities. Personalities like Serpentina the snake charmer, Wee Willie the 400 pound fat boy, Bobo the human pin cushion and Tessie the Tattooed Woman. Imagine joining their ranks and performing the following feats of bizzareism:

* Swallow and Maninpulate Razor Blades
* Produce Live Bugs
* Become a Human Spittoon
* Ingest an Inflated Balloon
* Drink Motor Oil
* Chew on Broken Glass
* And Much More!

These Stunts - to name but a few - are explained in excruciating (and often far too great) detail on Tomas Medina’s Geek Magic DVD. This magic is not intended for the faint of heart - or stomach.

It’s all alive, on film, for your viewing and learning pleasure: on the inside!

What I say

As with most DVDs you have to pick and choose the tricks that best suit your performing style and routine. This DVD is aimed at those wanting to freak and grossout there audience. some of the tricks on this dvd are great and look very impressive some (such as the human spittoon) are just aimed at the gross factor and really don't have much magical element to them. The 2 Tricks that i've taken from this DVD are the Razor Blade manipulation and the balloon swallowing. i would say that the methods he uses aren't the best and if u have a think u should be able to come up with better handling methods for these tricks. oh yeah and when it says and more don't expect a Jay Sankey interpretation of this where you get 5 or 6 excellent tricks which would probably make a brilliant dvd on their own. this DVD has 2 so so tricks which chances are u won't want. On the plus side there are excellent opertunites to take the ideas and turn them into your own tricks and the Guy presents the tricks in a very funny manner ( the fact that he looks like Rick Moranes had me doubled over)

5/10 not great but not bad i would probably only get this dvd if u wanted a trick that was on it and u can treat the rest as a bonus

oh yeah i kinda feel obliged to say this coz there might be tiddlers reading this WARNING: This DVD is not suitable for anyone under the age of 18. Performances and explanations are for entertainment and informational purposes only. Buyer assumes full responsibility and shall not hold the producers, performers, or any other parties involved with the production and/or distribution of this DVD responsible for any ill effects resulting from the viewing of this DVD. If you have any doubt in your ability to safely perform the mindless, silly, downright, insane stunts explained herein, DO NOT ATTEMPT THEM.

heheheheheh

A great DVD, and if ever ANY of you get the chance to speak with Tomas, he's as zany in real life as he is on his DVD. I've spoken with him a couple of times, and I have to say, he's one of life's true characters.

Highly recommended—for the balloon swallowing and 'Cricket deck' alone.

And it's at a bargain price on NUMS too...

I know Tom too and he is as mad as a box of frogs, but a very nice guy and a very good magician. The DVD is very funny and very good, well worth a look if you like that kind of thing!

hope i haven't offended anyone with my review i honestly think Tomas is a really talented funny guy i've seen the card dvd he brought out which is amazing and the guy is really talented. i just felt that with this dvd u have to pick and choose which tricks are appropriate for your act. it's one of my favourite dvds for the comedy performances alone and i the tricks that i use from it are mainstays in my act

No worries, we'd much rather have honest and objective Reviews on TM - it's very much OK to politely indicate which bits you aren't impressed with as it helps others who may be considering purchasing.

Thanks for the review Figo,

I have been thinking about getting this dvd. I haven't the faintest idea how to do the balloon swallowing so I may cough up and plump for this dvd.

got this dvd, and i must say that i love it. I can see why they have it for only those aged 18+ though as it has a shower scene. Personally, I didn't see the relevance of it, but i certainly enjoyed it (;)), though it took some explaining to my girlfriend as she didn't see the funny side of it ;)

Love

I know this is an old thread but I recently bought this dvd and must say there are several things on there that I am going to use on a regular basis.
No one has mentioned the tic tac trick which although very simple is very effective with abit of good acting.
The swallowing razorblades routine is quite well thought out and will replace the version I spent £40 on.
I love the cricket deck but can't see me using it as it seems alot of work for one effect and I'm not sure where and when I would use it.
Balloon swallowing....I love it although I keep bursting the buggers when I inflate them...I've already used 50 balloons.
I love this dvd although as stated in other posts it is not for everyone and certainly not for restaurants or kids parties. As Tomas says "If you need to think whether its suitable to do it or not it is best not too"

If it's any help I think I have found the solution to the balloon bursting as you inflate. If you give the balloon a good stretch before inflating it aides the air going to the end of the ballon rather than straining the mouthpiece end thus causing the problem. this is still not 100 % though but I'm still working on it. The balloon swallowing is still a show stopper when it all goes fine...lol I've had some cracking reactions, I love it
