top gun control

Hi everybody. Wow long time no post. Anywho I was on MVD and put a bunch of videos up and a wizard there said I had great handling but said there is much better ways to control a card rather then some false cuts. He said he would use the top gun control. Now I have been doing card magic for a long time and I have never heard of this before.. Is that a bad thing. I hope not because I have no clue what this is. If someone can help me understand this better or give me a source to it. I would appreciate it very much.

Cheers Tyler.

The 'Top Gun' control is a renaming of a move by Steve Draun which is a refinement of a move detailed in Hugard's More Card Manipulations vol 3. It can be found in Secrets Draun From Underground by Richard Kaufman.

There are lots and lots of ways to control a card and none are necessarily better than others. It depends on your taste, your fingers and the setting. This isn't a technically difficult move to perform but it takes some work to master the speed and smoothness needed to make it really deceptive. I find it a useful addition to my arsenal but not knockout replacement for a list of other sleights that some people claim it to be.

Hope that helps. Sorry it's not a direct answer but I don't want give credit to people who don't merit it.

I can't comment on the above references, but I know that Vinny Marini has a Top Gun control

Yes, that's the one I was trying not to mention.
