Using the PK ring

Postby Mantis » Oct 5th, '06, 13:31

I purchased the PK rign and thought I would be able to do thing like move a fork and things like that. But you have to get so close to do it it isnt believable. My question is what else can you do with this PK ring. And is there any videos that can so you how to use it.

It is MORE than possible to move forks and cause objects to mysteriously change round...

Balance a fork on the upturned bowl of a spoon... use gentle hand motions and the fork will spin, and eventually fall.

I take it you've never actually *seen* a mentalism show live? Things aren't so much 'in your face' as having a fork shoot across a table!

Thank you, I never have seen a show live. I am very new and learning on my own. Here in Maine there are no shops to go to or other magicians to hang out with. The closest city that has a magic shop is boston witch is 2 hours away. So I have been strugling for a while trying to learn.
Thank you for your help

I have performed the 'coin through bottle' trick using the PK ring on stage in a venue where you are almost surrounded by the audience and it was amazingly effective and received a great response. The instructions come with the ring but if you need further help PM me.
Also, it is very effective for watch stopping and for palming coins.
I often attatch a cigarette lighter to it and show the front of my hands with fingers spread and put them together and produce the lighter. It's quite effective when you have practiced it.
Hope this is of some help.

I loved my PK Ring... until it fell and hit the floor and broke to four pieces.. I'm just happy that the ring has a guarantee..

Got my PK ring from NUMS and a haunted key i was thinking of moving the key with the ring but i think the key is just too heavy :( if some one could PM if it is possible to move the key with ring it would be most appricated. I was reading on another thread about a book or a DVD on the ring , I know I would be buying one if there was.

If you buy some small neos or thin sheet (check out NUMS for full details) you can prepare many different props so they react with a PK or similar item.

Good ol Mandrake great idea. But will this stop the key from being handed out for examanation?

I find a standard Haunted Key works good enough (and they're not that expensive these days either).
I can't remember which site I saw it on, but Wizard have brought out a set containing 2 special pens for use with the PK ring.

You may need to switch gaffed items for ordinary ones so they can be examined but it's not always a good idea to let spec handle the props anyway. It can slow things down and spoil the flow of your performance if they think they can just reach over and handle the items any time they like. Remember that you are in control and you should allow the specs such familiarity only when it suits you.

On the other hand, if you borrow a coin and then switch it for your specially adapted one, they'll get their coin back again after another switch so they can certainly examine it to their heart's content.
