As a tip I have heard that Irn Bru is as good as liver, at least that is what my Scottish magic friends tell me.

I am concerned that specifying the religion could be taken as incitement to something or other very un-PC.

Anyone remember when you could buy a quarter of iron filings for sixpence? I have always prefered them to home made ones

hidding place and whacks me on the wrist or what ever part of me is closest
Its very painful any help would be most welcome

Just one word of caution here, don't do this for at least two weeks before flying.

The guys at the airport don't buy the excuse 'I recently ate 5lbs of iron filings' when you set off their metal detectors. All gets very uncomfortable when they start searhing you for that hidden knife, bomb, gun or whatever and can't find it.

Well, unfortunately, there's more. It can really screw up an fMRI scan. The point being that when blood is placed in a strong magnetic field, the iron in the haemoglobin creates it's own tiny magnetic field. Oxygenated blood creates a stronger field, which is what flows into parts ofthe brain used in a particular cognitive task. This is what an fMRI scan picks up, but the results are rendered useless and can lead to misdiagnosis. The other problem is that the superconducting magnets will also make you look like that scene in Alien a split second after powering up.

So if you're planning on eating 5lbs of iron filings, it's probably best to do it after you have a scan.

Our local supersurgery's getting an MRI scanner, by the way. I'm thinking of paying to have a go in it and putting the results on a t-shirt.

It would be OK if you stood in a bucket of water

It does make you lose slight faith in the human race and wonder why we bothered coming down from the trees in the first place doesn't it.

Or for the Creationists:

It does make you lose slight faith in the human race and wonder why we bothered eating an apple and getting expelled from paradise in the first place doesn't it

I know a guy who tried out electric touch just after he'd done stigmata, unfortunately he'd raised some rather large welts in the initial effect (just a pk ring and a lot of liver for a week previously, don't listen to all that c*** (not the best) about girders) and his electric finger wandered a bit close to said welts. We all had a jolly good laugh when he ended up with the 6 of spades scarred onto his forearm. It was like something out of The Green Mile.

The artist who does not rise, descends.
