End of rope solution

Postby Scott Daly » Oct 24th, '06, 10:08

This seemed like the most appropriate place to post this*. On cards4magic.co.uk third product down on the accesories page there is 'end of rope solution', think it is spray on? Has anyone used this? Is it any cop?

* Note from Mods: Support and Tips is probably a better section so it's been moved.

Hiya - I can't answer this as I have not used it, but I would ask how expensive it is? One thing that frequently gets my goat up in magic is people trying to flog you some special product when something much simpler will do, for half the price (roughing fluid is a good example of this...!).

For my ropes, I put a drop of liquid super glue carefully all the way round. If I'm cutting a rope, do this, then do it again leaving 1/2cm gap between the two glued bits and cut in the middle. Works absolutely fine. (Obviously, use cheap superglue or it might be more expensive than buying this fancy stuff!)

Cheers for the glue tip! It sells for £5.00. I usually bind my ropes with cotton, just thought this would be much quicker. Have thought of superglue but assumed it made the ends fizz and dissolve? I'm using the camirand academy rope btw.

Ah - it would depend on what rope you use, I use the fairly regular coreless soft magician's rope - if it's cotton it should work fine, if not, test before proper use!

I also bind my ropes with cotton. It's much cheaper at around 35p per reel and you can do lots of rope ends with one reel.

I've found that the best rope is available at House of Magic in Stourbridge and cokmes in Blue, white, yellow and red. Devenports also sell that same brand of rope and do green as well. I think that they sell for the same price which is £4.50 for a 10m length (was the last time that I bought it).

I don't know how this compares to the Camirand which I suspect is over priced and difficult to get hold of.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!
