Hey.
I ran a search but didn't find such topic. Asked permission to post such topic and got it.
Can someone please share some Gimmickless/Propless magic tricks?
It can be any card/coin/rope/anything just gimmickless.
It does not need to be completely impromptu, like it may need a setup before performance.
Also it would be very generous if you can please rate it as:
Difficulty: (0=self working, 1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used, 4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)
Rating: (same 1-10 scale, where one means bad and ten means leaves the audience speechless)
Setup: No setup needed OR Requires Setup.
Trick: Chance Zero aka Out of this World
Difficulty: 0=self working
Rating: 10= leaves the audience speechless
Setup: Required
About Trick: The cards are shuffled and are handed to spectator and he deals as he wants to, yet red cards are separated from black cards.
Trick: Frinnel's Free Cut Principle aka Sick Aces
Difficulty: 0=self working
Rating: 10= clearly impossible.
Setup: Can be done with or by the spectator
About Trick: The cards are shuffled and are handed to spectator and the spectator mixes the cards more as the magician dictates to make four piles. Yet the top of every pile is an ace. Any other card can be forced to be at top on the same principle, but ace is used as it is the most prestigious card in the deck.
Trick: Invisible Palm
Difficulty: 3=some sleights used
Rating: 8= always leaves them wondering
Setup: Setup can be done in front of the spec with a little bit of card control
Trick: Riffle Revelation (from Mark Wilsons Complete Course in Magic)
Difficulty: 2= Only 1 sleight
Rating: 8= they think you've messed up the trick, that you hit them with the finish.
Setup: No setup needed
Trick:Ambitious card
Difficulty: 1-3 (Depending on your routine)
Rating: 10= clearly impossible.
Setup: Can be done with or by the spectator.
Trick:Biddle trick
Difficulty: 1=One sleight to master
Rating: 10= clearly impossible.
Setup: Can be done with or by the spectator.
Trick:2 card monte
Difficulty: 1=One sleight to master.
Rating: 10= clearly impossible.
Setup: Can be done with or by the spectator.
Trick: Three Times Lucky (Jay Sankey)
Difficulty: 3=Some sleights used.
Rating: 9/10 - An impossible triple prediction!
Setup: None, spectator can shuffle the deck
Trick: Fibre Optics by Richard Saunders
Difficulty: 3-practise mainly
Rating: 10= leaves the audience speechless AND laughing
Setup: none you just bring your three ropes.[/quote]
Trick: Vanish 5000, Gregory Wilson (published in Paul Harris' Art of Astonishment Vol 1)
Difficulty: 1=easy to do
Rating: 10
Setup: Required, takes just 15 seconds.
Reactions: 10 - total confusion, even from many magicians.
Outline: Vanish the complete contents of a sugar packet right under a spec's nose.
A magician fooler, especially if performed as an "obvious" TT routine by pointing the non existant TT at them, then turning thumbs up and grinning your smuggest grin.
Trick: Coin production from 2 cards, Bobo (Originally the Sphinx)
Difficulty: 2, more being careful than anything else.
Rating: 9
Setup: none
Reaction: 8 - timeless classical magic
Outline: Two cards are dealt and shown cleanly both sides, as are your hands.
With a simple magical gesture a coin appears from between the cards.
Trick: pdq#2, Paul Harris (Art of Astonishment)
Difficulty: 2-3, about 3 or 4 relatively easy sleights
Rating: 9
Setup: None
Reactions: 7-10 - Increases as the routine progresses.
Outline: One of the easier to perform coins across routines, yet still very effective as the magic happens in their hands.
Trick: Pot of jam/Vaseline/Shipman's crab paste, James Brown (No, not that one)
Difficulty: 3, direction skills as much as anything else.
Rating: 10
Setup: Required - Minimal
Reactions: 10.5 - The best so far has been "S**T a brick!" in a heavy Sth African accent.
Outline: Very strong effect. Introduced as the 11p trick, coins are repeatedly placed into the pocket, yet still 11p remains in your hand. Even when the spec puts a coin into your pocket themselves 11p is shown in your hand. A highly surprising and hilarious kicker ending. Already one of my favorite "quick" effects.
Trick: Breakthrough, Richard Osterlind.
Difficulty: 2, If performing smoothly. No sleights, given a 2 on speed of calculation and performance needed to sell well.
Rating: 10
Setup: 5-10 minutes
Reactions: Depending on effect and presentation a full strength 10.
Outline: OK, so one card effect. Well, many are possible with the knowledge of this amazing undetectable card system. Cards can be freely selected and revealed using many methods. I favour one similar to that shown on Devil's Picture bookin Extreme mental effort (Derren Brown), presenting as more of an experiment than a magic trick and going through cards and suits, finally settling on one....the card they still hold in their hands. Psychological explanations are always wrongly offered by specs.
Trick: Haunted Deck
Difficulty: 1, needs misdirection but has a perfect off beat
Rating: 10
Setup: Absolutely no setup, any deck of cards, can be borrowed. Card can be signed
Trick: Coin Matrix (No Card)
Difficulty: 2: 1 very easy sleight
Rating: 9: leaves the audience confused.

Setup: Not much setup needed.
Trick: Jumping Gemini
Difficulty: 3-4, depends on how fluid your routine is
Rating: 10
Setup: No Setup, just pick four cards in the deck in front of the spectator.
Trick: Reset
Difficulty: 4-5. Can be hard to keep the routine fluid
Rating: 10 Devestates the audience
Setup: No Setup, just pick eight cards in the deck in front of the spectator, or even have the spec hand them to you.
Trick: Triumph
Difficulty: 1-2 depending on method of shuffle.
Rating: 10 Devestates the audience
Setup: No setup, pure slight of hand with a chosen card, baby.
Trick: Signed Card To Shoe
Difficulty: 2 One sleight used
Rating: 9.5
Setup: Very slight setup
Trick: Amazing memory test found in 13 steps to mentalism by Corinda
Difficulty: 3 takes time to learn
Rating: 10
Setup: NONE and NO props, not even a pack of cards. Just bring your brain!!!!!
Advice: Your audience will not likely be able to match you memory wise, a pen and a piece of paper helps for them to keep track (Thanks Cardza for that advice)
Trick: Sinful (Coin in Soda Can)
Difficulty: 3 A couple slights used but they aren't that hard
Rating: 10 When this is preformed right with a signed quarter it gets them every time!
Setup: NO SETUP! All you need is a sharpie a quarter and a soda can.
Trick: Coins Across
Difficulty: 4 three sleights and a lot of timing
Rating: 9 a very visual and aural effect.
Setup: No set up needed.
Thanks.
Help appreciated.
