Phew! Just returned home from hosting the "spooky magic" party at a local restaurant. There's no way I can sleep at the moment because I'm so hyped up by what a great night it's been!
All the lead up (tarot, pk silverware, black hart stunts, and the seance) worked perfectly, and I'd selected my three volunteers to conduct the ouija board experiment with care.
I'd forced a card on all of the volunteers, and told them that we would get the spirit to tell us what card they had memorised. I also used the "you can do this, you can absolutely get the glass to move" suggestion to implant the true nature of the ouija into their minds.
The volunteers placed their fingertips on the glass, and I began by asking if there was a spirit present. Nothing happened. For what seemed an absolute age, the glass refused to move. There were a few sniggers from the on-lookers and a few dissenting voices, but I held my nerve and restated the question. Suddenly the glass twitched and moved, then it very elegantly swept around the table before coming to rest on 'Y' for Yes. The sniggers stopped and a deathly hush fell on the proceedings.
I then asked the spirit to name the card that I had forced. The glass began to move, and it swept around and around the table. It was actually quite a beautiful sight - very serene and silent. The glass kept bumping into letters, and was making no sense at all. I got the volunteers to remove their fingers, take a breather, and try again.
Again after what seemed an age, the glass started to move again. This time it moved eratically around the board, touching letters but making no sense, then the glass moved to the middle of the board and stopped. The volunteers removed their fingers, visibly moved by what had happened.
So the "spirit" never got to name the card, but the sight of the glass moving around the board was a strangely beautiful one that I shall remember forever. And also I'm over the moon that the glass actually moved as the evening would have ended on rather a downer if it hadn't!
So all in all a very succesful night, and I'm looking forward to continuing the ouija board experiments with another crowd sometime soon. As for tomorrow - it's 3 kids shows. While I'm doing the zombie ball for groups of sugar high 4 year olds, my mind will still I'm sure be wandering back to tonight!
