Birmingham - Magic Shop and Society

Postby AlvinLuo » Oct 31st, '06, 22:18

Heya !

I am new to Birmingham. I heard that there is a British Society in Selly Hill. Anyone has any idea where is it? Is it a function room?

Is there any Magic Shop near University of Birmingham ?

Cheers !

Regards,
Alvin

Oroight ar kid :D ?

The British Magical Society (which is the oldest magical society in the UK being 6 months older than the Magic Circle!) meets in Selly Hill Road, Selly Oak and their website ( http://www.britishmagicalsociety.co.uk/ ) tells all! The used to be a magic and juggling shop over the road from Sainsbury's on the Bristol, Road at Selly Oak but I gather the owner has stopped doing that now for personal reasons. Keith Bennet at KB Magic ( http://www.kbmagic.co.uk/ ) has a shop and after that I guess the nearest bricks and mortar magic shop is House of Magic UK - see http://www.houseofmagicuk.com/Customer_About.asp

Hey Mandrake ! Thanks for the fast reply..

I went to the Selly Hill to find the British Magical Society but could not find No. 8 house. Is that a function room ? I saw a function room there but not sure whether it is No 8.

Alvin

I've never been to their current HQ - it used to be in Birmingham City Centre yonks ago and was easy to find! I'd suggest you e-mail one of the officers of the Society and ask them for directions - the Ex Servicemen's Club must be fairly prominent if it's anything like the other clubs of similar purpose.

Yeh I went to that juggling shop in selly oak back in March as it still has the sign for magic shop. I was so dissapointed. If id have known there was a magic society I might have stayed in Brum!!
