It sounds to me that you need to get a Porper Card Clip. They prolong the life of your cards probably about 3 times longer. My decks last me a looooonnnnggg time.

My cards usually last longer if powdered with fanning powder. What I now tend to do is to powder each card individually and get rid of the excess. Then when I'm not using the deck, it's stored in my Porper clip. My deck of Tally Ho's which I have been using for about two months now was treated in the way I said before and I can still make a decent pressure fan out of them. This is the deck I used for my last video "fun with video editing" and also the deck I used at the Ipswich convention which was in very good condition then.

It varies for me. I can make a deck last for over a month, if I'm practicing and want to make them last. Otherwise I can fancy a fresh deck after a couple of weeks or so.

I've found that Costco (BJ's and Sam's Club) often sell factory seconds (printing is a little off turning Bikes into one-way decks. SteveBo is right about the card clip, they dramatically increase the life of your cards. Also, while practicing, when the cards start to get warm (reasonably above room temperature) switch decks. Like most things, when warmer they absorb more (in the case of cards, they will more quickly absorb moisture/oils from your hands) at a quicker rate. That has been my experience for what it is worth.

In addition to what you said about stopping to us the cards when they become reasonable above room temperature:

I have found that when I feel that I have used up my deck of cards to almost their fullest extent that if you place them near an AC or just leave them in a box for a few days that they will start to become more and more "like new".

I mostly only use my bikes now when I am doing a trick that involves someone signing a card or when I am using my red bike gaffs. Otherwise I am generally sticking to the Tally Ho's and the Master's decks (even though they are bikes I do not really consider them to be the same as the kind you get at stores for obvious reasons).

It depends on what type of Bikes you buy. There are two different styles of Bike decks that not only look different, but feel different to. The most common kind are labeled "Standard Face" across the front of the box. These are very flexable and therefore don't last long. You can identify them bu their faces. The second type is "Jumbo Index." The have larger pips than usual and are also quite strong. They don't bend that easily from the start. Therefore they last longer.

Wha?

1. In response to 'Fanning powder makes cards last longer'... How do you work that out? Fanning powder essentially makes a deck quite unusable for many sleights/flourishes

2. Jumbo and regular index decks are different? Wow. I've just opened one of each, and if I'm not mistaken, they are exactly the same except the faces.

3. Frozen cards? Well, one of the worst enemies for playing cards is moisture. And by freezing or chilling the cards, you are increasing this risk. Also, too much heat is an enemy, as it removes the natural necessary moisture which is already in the cards.

Best advice: get a card guard (or expensive 'porper' clip) for your 'best' cards, and just regularly replace worn cards.

Everyone has their own ideas. I guess you just don't realize how wierd they sound until someone points it out to you. I'd be just the same if I said...

Wha?

4.Card Gaurd? Are you kidding me! All those things do keep them flat. Why not just wrap the card box in a rubber band.

To each his own.
