I dont think its that hard to work out a method......I have...
not attempted to make it yet but might do at some point...

What you are paying for is the method.....if you can`t work out a usable method then you are aquiring knowledge you don`t have....thats what you pay for...

Its not going to be a trick you can do at the drop of the hat....so i would rather spend money on a barrow load of everyday usable magic...

£499 would go a long way.

Hi Guys,

I'm new here and just yesterday my friend asked me if I know any magic tricks and I answered "my uncle taught me one once but that's about it". My friend then showed me the web site for the store www.morrisseymagic.com which is where I saw the icarus effect. It was my childhood dream (I'm not that old right now anyways...16) to fly...as we all might have dreamed of. I watched the Icarus video, the King video, and the Angel video. The king video does not show much or at least on the website i found it on. It only shows his legs getting off the ground. The Icarus video was more impressive yet it didn't make me say "wow that's wicked!". The Angle video was pretty nice. It shows him doing it a few times and fairly high. As a kid i also dreamed of antigravity magnets on cars and wanted to invent one when I'm older. I don't know what makes this magic trick what it is but it is awesome. I know I'm a noob going after the trick just because it looks really sweet. especially with Criss wearing all those tight clothes its mind blowing. I want to get into magic and I know I need to start off with the basics. I hope in the near future to obtain one of the levitation kits. Oh and also. I saw pictures on the internet where criss is like 20 feet into the air which makes it again "cooler" than the icarus effect.

You can't perform that kind of levitation from the Criss Angel DVD. The one he teaches is the one where he is floating up the ledge. I have it and I would love to construct the gimmick but I don't have the tools needed :(
I can't comment on the icarus effect as I've not seen it.

I have a workshop in my basement with a lathe, mill, drill press, other power/hand tools. How much does the actual instructions cost?

I have a drill but not a jigsaw which you need in order to construct the gimmick or know anyone who has one.

Entity! Please PM me or something, I don't have near enough money yet, but I plan on saving up and buying the Icarus effect. Until then, I'll stick to Zero Gravity and King Rising.

I just want to know some things about how it appears to the audience, like is the knee-bending neccicary, can you show the bottoms of your shoes? Etc. I don't mind if there are some restrictions, I will still buy it, I just don't feel like searching through everything to find these specific answers, so I would really appriciate it if you helped me out, here, thanks.

All the best,
--Kain

Hi,

I have always loved self-levitation tricks and when I saw this one I thought it was pretty cool. I also own King Rising, but I have never performed it. Why? Because it's to much fiddling with jackets etc. I don't have the right 'stuff' to do it, and just think that the Balducci is better.

But now I saw the Icarus effect I got pretty interested.. I have read all sorts of threads, but still have questions:

- Do you have to wear the same pants/ clothes every time you want to do the effect?
- Is this effect really 'do-able' in front of real audience?

I'm really interested but almost $400 is pretty much... especially for a 16 year old boy.. So could someone please answer my questions? :)

I don't know anything about Icarus, but reading your introduction - I really would recommend spending that money on learning the basics and getting a good, solid foundation in magic first.

DONT BUY IT!!!!!!! the website penguinmagic.com has cheaper ones & id reccomend buying the criss angel levitation one. its filed under his season 2 dvd of mindfreak. also buy wild lev 2 help build the gimmick, but wear the criss angel version backwards. its the same effect (easy set-up/no cleanup) & its cheaper 2 buy & make (little building required, actually).

Hmmm...this looks an awfull lot like the criss angel levitation, ONLY BACKWARDS! This thing is way overpriced, which is a huge dissaointment if it is the method i`m thinking of. I can actually make this thing myself w/o a gimmick other than my pants (diddn`t someone say something about pants on page 1?) & another item (which just MAY be Wild Lev, available @ penguinmagic.com). It`s not that hard, other than a few hours work of sewing & cutting. I`m not a friend of the creator of any effect like this, because if i was i`d kill him for overpricing it. It makes me wanna puke how easy it is to make the gimmick versus blowing a ton of cash out my rear which is well over the price to make it, including buying new pants & something nice for myself ( ). if you wanna blow cash, buy this. otherwise buy the criss angel levitation dvd for $100, Wild Lev for like $30 something, & a couple other inexpensive items the dvd tells you to buy. Criss sits down & walks through the making of it with you. That may be the only time i give Criss a compliment, so believe me.

To be honest after having the "Chris Angel levitation DVD" I can tell that "icarus" is done the same only backwards. So if that's the case i would get "king rising" as i have never been sussed out on this one, where as with the "balducci" everybody knows this effect. All I'm saying is the "king rising" is the best in opinion.

King Rising? I hate that levitation. The video makes it look so cool & totally improptu. You need a jacket to cause misdirection, and you gotta practise a while. The only levitation that I`ll be buying that requires a jacket is wild levitation. You can get 3 ft. of air vs. 3 in. with King Rising.

I wasn't impressed with king rising either, but you can use an Umbrella instead of a jacket. On a windy day you can at least have a good time. Just make sure it is big enough to be useable. I use one that is black and red, I spin it while I get ready, and lift it into the air, and viola. Plus when you crash down, it's perfect cover. Hope this helps.
