What would be a good trick to just go up, borrow a deck of cards, and show a nice enough effect to draw a crowd? I generally finish with the slapper, but i am considering moving that to the front to make way for a better trick at the end. The only problem is i have no names of good tricks at all. Anyone have any suggestions as to what tricks i could buy (my budget is modest, fifty dollars at most)? I am thinking of starting with a prepared one, but that always makes people think i have a trick deck. Any tips at all on this matter?

If this is against the rules, then please tell me soon so i can delete it.

Thanks in advance,

Dream

Something quick :) Something you can do standing up. Some form of deck manipulation where you can wave it around a bit. Something with a few sections to get multiple whoops. I don't know the names of tricks that well.

You need to buy this book: "The Royal Road to Card Magic"

Very inexpensive, loads of tricks with a borrowed deck.

Alright, thanks. A lot of suggestions for that book so i suppose its time to do it :P. I also just dug up mark wilsons encyclopedia of magic, so thats helping me out a bit, even though most of it is too basic. Royal road to card magic...prob at my nearest barnes and noble.

Thanks

i would start with design for laughter and move quickly into sick aces these 2 effects followed by an ambitious card routine with mind bender as a finale with the hummer card while your walking away is in my humble opinon a reputation getter for a quick 5 - 10 min show which will leave your audience asking for more which i think is the best way to leave them
