Postby Misery » Dec 11th, '06, 04:55

I've never seen one of these.. So I "created" this last night.

Hope I'm doing this right. >_>

Tell me what you think.

PS, my voice sounds very weird on this. Too much gain on the mic.

Interesting idea at work here, but your handling needs some work.

First - why would you have the coin signed and then put it back in your pocket - only to take it back out a few seconds later. This type of handling is completely impractical. You're arousing suspicion before you've even begun the effect.

For the transposition - it's very clear what you're doing here. This is partially due to camera positioning (which I'm assuming can't be helped if it's a webcam), but mostly due to your handling of the "move". Every motion of your fingers prepares the audience to watch you do exactly what you're doing. You need to work on ways to present a better illusion of pushing the coin between the card.

I have some ideas that might help you. If you're interested, pm me.

well. i think the idea behind it is very good.
your handling needs to be improved though.
more to the effect-that "move" everybody in my school knows that trick. my brother who is ten can do it. I'm not discriminating it or anything, but i believe it is a slieght that has been passed around by friends for fun and stuff. perhaps a different sleight (im not that clued up on coin sleights so i can not offer anything) could do the trick.
and finally. i dont think it would work wit the audience signing the coin, if its done how i think it is.

good idea though :)

I remember learning something similar that required a setup. Can't remember anything other than that. Think I got it at ellusionist.

Actually, Mikey this effect can very easily be done with a borrowed and signed coin.

Everyone's comments and suggestions thus far have been extremely accurate. The first thing that came to my mind with a post titled "coin thru card" is that maybe it's a little less spectacular when the object being penetrated is so small. I feel like a spectator could thing up countless techniques (however wrong they may be) and it might take away from the effect in the long run. After watching the video though I think you hit it on the head and with the suggestions from previous replies and with the coin samwiched between the coins makes the conditions seem a lot more impossible and the effect much more astonishing.
