i have to have some admiration for peacock it takes courage to draw a big target on your head and jump up and down in no mans land. at least i think it's courage perhaps not. anyway i would be lying if i said i didn't use stooges in my show i don't do mentalism so perhaps thats ok but there are so many more possibilites to performing if you have a stooge waiting in the wings, after all I'm not here to say i am the worlds best magician look i have magic powers. I'm here to be a great entertainer and if that means telling a few lies or using a few stooges in my performance to ENTERTAIN people then i can't see the problem. after all surely thats why we are all here

I have never understood why people say I hate stoodges you arent a magician if you use them and then they will go of and use an ID. See a stoodge has a prop. That can make a show I do close-up so i dont need stoodges but i see how on stage or in a mentalsim act they can be very usefull.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

See a stoodge has a prop.

Does that mean we can sell them on Talkmagic?

A mentalist props is anything that helps you deceive the audience, whether it's made out of flesh and bone or paper. I understand that the OP was about falsely portraying something as mentalism (rather than mentalism being just a load of lies) but to answer the question in a board sense, mentalism is not only about lying but telling totally unbelievable lies.

The problem most people have with stooges is that they make the mistake of believing the beauty lies in the skill rather than the lie.

Actually, Mentalism is about telling folks the truth by using lies. When it is done right you don't have to lie... at least that's my experience.

Our young friend is simply upset about a technique that is used from time to time by some and abused by others. As I said previously, I know of very few Mentalists that exploit the stooge technique on a regular basis... I know a lot of magicians that use stooges and instant stooging techniques
thinking that they are doing "Mentalism" but there's absolutely nothing wrong with this; they are using a simple method as a means to create an illusion that's amusing to their audience.

I'd get very upset if I paid some big money for a new effect, only to find that it's pure stooge action, but I have to recognize the fact that this is a legit technique in the business.
