There are plenty of tricks out there which use flash paper or powder.

I've never really been into it so can't suggest any books but I'm sure if you search for flash magic you should find something. Either that or someone who has experience with flash will come along to help.

just had an idea, how about a torn and restorec card routine. But perhaps you could burn the card and later find it whole in the deck? A slight adaption of the torn and restored trick in Mark Wilson's book could work nicely. (I really think I should get some kind of commission form Mark).

*puts on her mother hen hat*

Please don't do anything think like that. Fire is very dangerous even if you know what you're doing. I knew someone who was in the theatre, she ended up in hospital for months after a scene with fire went wrong. And she was a pro who'd done the same thing hundreds of times.

Yes there are substances which will allow you to do this, but please please please don't even try it. It's very dangerous.

I use flash paper alot for loads of different effects... i find people love to see visual things.. So just add flash paper to different effects to "spice it up" a little

Example... I have a flint on a retractable device so when opening a deck of cards i put a square piece of flash paper on the pack so as i produce it, the spectator is allready interested. but as lady of mystery says NOT too much doh cos it can burn skin (found that out the hard way)..

Yes in fact.. surgically implant a card under your skin, do a trick and when you come to reveal the card.. pour gasoline on your hand and set it alight.. when the skin melts they will be shocked to find their card

** disclaimer ** if you actually do this.. i claim no responisibilty for your stupidity

Loads of fire tricks, I wouldnt set fire to my arm though but flash paper always gets a reaction. 3rd degree burn uses a flame. Loads of stuf...

www.magicshop.co.uk fire magic section should give you ideas.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

In a flash and third degree burn are two strong effects that immediately spring to mind.

However, once you've applied some imagination there are a great number of ways thatyou COULD apply some flash paper to your everyday routines such as an ambitious card routine.

A basic example is to show the card on top is random (DL), find a reason to use some flash paper with something perhaps wrapped inside, light and then turn the top card to reveal that the fire has bought the chosen card back to the top.

Just work out the patter to match the effect that you intend to use and if it sounds plausible then you're heading in the right direction.
