How to be a successful adult magician???

Postby abracabella » Jan 21st, '07, 13:15

I work with children aged 1-8 years but would like to expand my business and begin working with adults.

I know that magic for adults is different to magic for children but HOW different does it have to be. I already know many tricks with cards, coins, sponge balls and rope which are not understood and appreciated in childrens shows.

Any tips for performing to adults!!! :D

Regards

Annabelle

i was wondering what "adult magician" was going to be.
i have the inverse of theis problem in that my magic doesn't really work very well for kids

try the tricks the kids dont get on adults and see how the reactions go. a bit of trial and error will let you know what works well with what people.

.

This should be ideal for Adults then!

The performance needs to be more sophisticated but to be honest, it doesn't need to be over complicated. Why not invite a few adult friends around for a drink and put on a performance for them and ask them to score each trick on entertainment value? You'll soon find out what works and what doesn't and will have a good time to boot

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

Magic is all about suspending adult thoughts and...blah blah

Well I ve been doing sponge balls for adults for ages and cut and restored rope, Vanishies using a TT plus some more sophisticated card tricks and that. Kids dont "get" slight of hand usualy adults think less latrialy so slights work on them better.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.
