Ok I'm going to take my new coin routine to the pub on friday but was wondering about one thing. The routine will finish with me having a couple of coins lapped. How do people tend to clear up lapped coins?

I'm likely to be moving from table to table, so need some way to clean up. I was thinking along the lines of accidentally dropping a couple of coins when standing up, would give me the excuse to pick the dropped coins as well as the lapped ones up.

i've not worked with coins for quite a while...however...here's some ideas..

if you're using newer currency, surely some kind of neo-magnet hold out device on the inside of a jacket or trouser somewhere?

a mini-topit of some kind in your lady-clothes? there must be plenty of choices there...

Hmmmm a magnet on the inside leg of a pair of trousers might work. A topit would be tricky as I don't tend to wear a jacket.

Palmed coins usually end up going down my top, but if I'm not careful there I end up growing by a cup size and walk away jangling like a charity box I can't think of a way to do that with a lapped coin.

you could always wear a loose sleeved top and stitch in a form of topit there...or just sleeve the whole thing?

will you be using a close up mat if so add a topit there or have you considerd using a knapkin or do an erlier trick with a prop or cards and place this in your lap as you go into your coin routine giving you a reason to go into the lap at the end.
a chop cup routine is ideal for this as you can ditch the coins in the cup as you go for it and reload them as you set up for the cup routine.

I carry all my string, coins, bands and just about everything else in an old card box. All I'll need to do is fetch something out of that box for a trick, pop the box on my lap and later pick the coins up with the box.

Some of the above ideas are good id go with one of them, i wouldnt advise what you first said about dropping coins on the floor because if you did that at every table someone from the other table might think its a bit odd if they see you doing it at a couple of other tables.

Drop something random on teh floor, bend over and pick it up whilst snaffling away the coins.

if you carry a dainty little handbag thing, would there be a suitable pouch/pocket to have a magnet in, or along the base if its thin enough?

...put that on your lap as you leave and it'll hold it all out for you?

Just randomly reach down and palm thewm, making sure that they don't talk when picking them up together.

On the recent Slydini DVD that I reviewed there is what I consider to be a master class on lapping and the great man himself just goes backwards and forwards to his lap without anyone ever noticing. Watching this made me rethink about lapping as it's very seldom covered in any significant detail.

Some great ideas there, plenty ot think about the bag one is brilliant.

Lapping does seem one of those really common things that's rarely covered. Plenty of books sasy to lap a coin but I've never seen any talk about the clean up.

if you're not going for blatent removal under cover of doing something else, Burger uses a nice delapping technique of not letting the hand retrieving the coins drop below the table, instead allowing a finger and thumb to drop below the table level and simply passing them up with the other hand which then comes up clean. I believe this in turn may be from Slydini.
