i think it would be better to not actually have the card face up. In my opinion it seems if its done face up, all your doing is constantly holding onto the card, and thats not what you want. you want it to look as if everything is being done fairly and totally out of your control. i think you should perform the whole cutting sequence with the card face down, and then reveal the card at the end.
you may want to brush up on your speed, its not exactly a must have, but it stops smart specs on folowing and noticing that their card is not being lost. same with your shuffling, do this and you'll be a pro.
