Restaurant magicians...

Postby AcrylicAce » Feb 16th, '07, 04:41

Do you guys just perform at a regular restaurant or do you perform at a restaurant that is known for having magicians perform?

Not sure if I made my question clear... I have never been to a restaurant where magicians perform at the table but I have heard that many people do it. I am just wondering if you just wait tables and then throw in some magic for fun or if this is a specific job that you have at some special restaurant.

It's a specific job and the magician definately doesn't wait on the tables

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

Unless of course you are already a waiter and are looking for some public practice!

But no, dat is right, restaurant magicians are hired to be just that. They're not on the payroll - think of them as more of a contractor...

I have a long term contract with TGI Fridays, and I work all the ones along the south coast. I'm there just to entertain, not to get drinks for people.

That's cool, do they cover transport costs or is that worked into your fee? How do you go about approaching people?

I perform a variety of situations.....but do have a weekly restaurant show! I perform for other restaurants on various promotional nights they may have, etc.....but I am in to entertain and have nothing to do with the wait staff in the physical sense.....however I do take my performance cues from them.

If I can be of any help, feel free to PM and I will offer any advice I can....there are many schools of thought on magic, so get many opinions and use them to shape your own ideas about when, where, how, how much, etc......
