I'm in love....

Postby Lady of Mystery » Feb 19th, '07, 12:09

..with my TT.

Now I've always been unsure about performing with a TT because it just looks so unlike my thumb. I've tried painting the nail but that never works. But on friday I just thought, ah lets just give it a go.

So all I took out with me was a humble TT.

What a reaction I got, probabaly the best reactions I've ever had. Nothing other than a TT, an old twix wrapper and some salt.

I couldn't believe it, something as simple as a TT kept me going and everyone entertained for almost 2 hours.

I was never confident with a TT until a few weeks ago. I'd always been scared to use it in front of real people, because I've never believed that anyone would be fooled. It looks fake to me, so I assumed it would stand out like a sore thumb to everyone else.

But no. The look of astonishment on people's faces was incredible.

It's definitely jumped high up the list of props wot I like.

Excellent. Another convert to the 'My TT has to look totally realistic in order to pull off the effect' school of thought.

As a proof to yourself, try using a rolled up foil mince pie case as a TT. I did at Xmas, and got away with a napkin to bill switch without getting caught.

and...

To be fair, I'd actually considered posting something far more perverse.

But the launch of my 'battery operated' TTs will have to wait to new year now.

I have to admit, some of the best responses I've ever got were from just vanishing a tissue with a TT. Personally, I reckon it's due to it's simplicity. There's no suspicious apparatus and no confusing set-up.
I think the intitial fear that people will see right through it is the same for most things in magic. For example, the first time you do a trick involving palming a coin in front of an audience. You soon get over the fact that the coin is a different colour to your skin.

I'm also glad that you've finally found out about the joys of a TT.

I've been carrying a TT around with me for years and wouln't go anywhere without it.

We are talking about the TT right?

If you are all out of ideas with the TT may I suggest Gary Darwins DvD.

I very nearly tried a similar thing in the pub when I guy asked if I could vainish his beer. Decided not too because I didn't have a clue it it'd leak out after, will have to experiment at home and see what happens.
