Cigarrette to two £5 notes? help

Postby Mark228 » Feb 23rd, '07, 01:27

Hi, ok I'm not sure if this is in the correct forum so move it Mods if not, sorry! I saw a trick done by a guy on holiday and we were going to "Swap" tricks (he wanted one I showed him) but I left b4 I got around to it. So I am basically trying to find the name of the trick so I can go and buy it. Here is what he does:

Takes a cigarette out of pack and wraps a bank note around it such as a £5 so that only the tip is visible. He then dips it into his pint and swirls it about a bit a few times. Then he rips off the tip and throws it on the floor and starts to roll the rest in between his hands kinda like you would plastersine. When he is finished he unrolls the note the cig has gone and there are now TWO £5 notes as he unrolls it. IOW the cig has turned into a £5 note inside the other £5 note.

Anyone recognize this trick and know what its called or which book it might be in please, thanks!?

The method for doing this can be found in many books on magic, but unfortunately I don't know off hand which ones, specifically...

However, you'll find the methodology behind this trick in "The Amateur Magician's Handbook" (Hay) where it is described as a torn and restored card to cigarette. With a bit of imagination, it isn't hard to figure out how this would work with bills instead of a card (and, in all reality, much easier since the bills aren't nearly as stiff as a card).

Mike.

Anneman's Buried Treasure also offers an insight....

If I remember correctly, Scarne's Magic Tricks has a cigarette trick which will achieve the effect you want.
