I know it's easy to swirl it around in your head in the wee small hours, and language makes things seem to be what they're not, but you're the victim here.
You were physically attacked in your workplace and your employer has a duty of care at the very least.
Go to the Citizen's Advice Bureau and they'll put you in the picture. They have briefs there who know the score, and all the legal advice you can eat is free!
If the company tries to dismiss you, you're in line for some serious wonga, matey, and they're in line for a severe battering because you're the one in the right here, not them.
